We stayed in the annex and the room was tiny and cramped. The hallway was dirty and stinky. The annex smelled like a dirty locker room. The mosquitoes ate us alive in the room in October. I can not imagine what they would be like in warmer months. The staff was curt and short with our requests for help. Venice... more

We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Messner. It is a nice, quiet location. One stop away from St. Marks Square. However, when you arrive- realize it is a good 40 minute or so boat ride to the hotel from the train station...but still central to a lot of the main sights. The hotel was clean. It had a lot of... more

We were with an Elderhostel group of 32. More than half of the group shared a room. The location was excellent in the Dorsoduro sesteri, very near the Salute vaporretto stop, between the Grand Canal and the Giudecca Canal. There was a nice, fairly large grocery some walk along the Guidecca Canal. Our group had most of our meals at... more

The hotel is right on the canal, so you get a nice view in the morning. The staff is quite gental and helpful. The place is basic, and the rooms too, but it's perfectly fine for those you really want to visit Venice and not stay in the hotel room. more

We loved the Hotel Messner. We originally booked it because of the value and proximity to San Marco (only 1 vaporetto stop away) but really enjoyed our stay there. The room was fine with an en suite bath and a view of the garden. The breakfast was hearty and the one dinner we had in the restaurant was great -... more

My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Messner in Venice for 2 nights from 10/6/08 – 10/8/08. To sum it up… we got what we paid for. We bought our stay through hotels.com for $168 a night with all fees and taxes. That’s a cheaper hotel in Venice. Be careful most hotels don’t have a private bathroom. This hotel... more

I stayed at the Hotel Messner with my wife and two children (5 and 7). Overall, I think that for the price, you will be hard pressed to find a better place to stay. The hotel is a little difficult to find, but is actually only about five minutes walk or so from the vaporetto stop. We were able to... more

The hotel is easy to find from the Salute vaporetto stop...just follow the directions on the website. I didn't think the hotel looked dated, and I especially didn't think the murano chanderliers were tacky at all. The price was very reasonable, the area quiet but well located close to the Accademia Bridge. Piazza San Marco vaporetto station is just 1... more

Messner is not a particularly stylish hotel, nor is it an example of the opulence and grandeur many tourists may come to Venice in the hope of experiencing. The decor is dated (eg. tacky Murano glass chandeliers), but it is not terrible. Rooms are not luxuriously furnished, but are comfortable. My fiance and I shared a room with a double... more

2*, 120E/nite for two, including breakfast. Stayed here 7/20-7/21. Located in Dorsoduro, Salute stop on Route 1 to St. Mark’s. Very short walk after getting off the water bus. One of the quieter parts of Venice. Small rooms, but air conditioned. This hotel has two parts, with an annex (where prices are a bit lower) in a separate building across... more
