If you're going to Italy, remember that everything in Venice is much more expensive than in the other cities. So the same class hotel in Venice might run you close to double what you'd pay in other cities. We found the hotel very easily using the hotel's map. If you want a posh location, pay posh prices. This was exactly how I imagined it, down a little alley overlooking the neighbours windows. This was my 6th visit to Venice and had previously stayed in Lista di Spagna and the Lido. I choose the hotel for the location in Dorsoduro, and the great price I got from ASDA travel ( 40 euros a night) as a last minute deal. By far the best aspect of our stay was the hotel's location. Initially it looks like a hole in the wall, but there are tons of nice little restaurants up and down the street. Fantastic pizzeria down the street. The owners speak little to no English, but they managed and serve up fabulous pizza and gelato.Just a 5 minute walk... more

We were pleasantly surprised with hotel. Sure it's no 4 or 5 star but it's in a great location. Just off the "St. Toma" stop on the vaporetto and a small walk. Great area to just "get lost". We know Venice well [10th visit] and had no difficulty finding the Pantalon - 13 min on foot from Piazzale Roma, with wheelie luggage-bags. Newcomers should probably take the vaporetto to San Toma - note that the express #82 stops there, as well as the "stopper" #1.
