We stayed only for 1 night, however we experienced friendly service from the minute we walked through the door. The room was good value, with a small view of the canal and was clean, spacious and nicely decorated with all the facilities you would expect from a mid range hotel. We chose the hotel from others as its location was... more

This hotel was a great find. It is a little gem of a hotel located on a quiet square close to the Grand Canal and also close to the train station, so that it is easy to get here with luggage. The hotel is in an old building, and the rooms are small, but clean and rather charming, with air... more

Good little hotel with charactor in a quiet part of Venice. Good value for Venice. The breakfast on the terrace is great. The location is easy to find and within walking distance of the train, bus and all the car parks without looking onto them. Enjoyed the stay. more

My wife and I stayed three nights in the Hotel Ai due Fanali at the end of a Princess Cruise that ended in Venice. As first-timers to Venice, we chose it based on two things: an excellent writeup in Alastair Sawday's "Special Places to Stay - Italy", and its location within walking distance of the cruise port and bus terminal.... more

My lovely husband made me a great surprise for my 27th birthday, and brought me for a very romantic weekend in Venice. He booked this hotel because he had already been there on a conference, and he liked the atmosphere. I loved my stay at Hotel Ai Due Fanali. The hotel is pretty small (just 16 rooms) and its location... more

We spent 3 nights at the ai due Fanali in Venice and had a great time. We arrived quite late (11pm) due to our flight but the receptionist had waited for us and had our key ready for us. We had to check in at a different hotel across the road, and I was concerned we would have the switching... more

Thought it had a "real Venice" feel to it: not glitzy, not a chain hotel, but unique, full of character and charm, clean, with nice touches and a professional staff. It's less than a 5 minute walk from the train station or bus square, which was very convenient for our coming and going: no need to haul our bags onto... more

I stayed here with my girlfriend and elderly mother. It's very close to the train station, yet pleasantly outside the touristy hubbub. We enjoyed being away from the traps of Piazza San Marco. The elevator was a reasonable size for a European hotel, the rooftop breakfast deck offers great views, the bathrooms were nice and well-appointed, and the ceilings of... more

If you want a city break then choose the small but exquisite hotel, the Ai de Fanali in Venice. Situated just off the Grand Canal close to the Scalzi Bridge is the most perfect little hotel. Originally a monastic school (and attached to a 'working' church that rings the tower bell at 7.30 every morning!) the Ai de Fanali is... more

I found this hotel through reviews in two different travel books. Both said it was "charming" and a "find." I was really looking forward to this hotel. Well, it does have some charm (in the lobby area) and a location not too far from the train station; but the room was VERY SMALL and dingy. I requested a non-smoking room... more
