I enjoyed my 2 nights at Casa Querini in August. It is located just a few block from Piazza S. Marco but it isn't as costly as you may think. Bed (2 doubles pushed together) was ok and the room was clean. The breakfast was nice and you could even eat outside in the small (but vacant of people) piazza. more

This small hotel is less than a 5 minute walk from the San Zaccharia vaporetto stop, and about 3 minutes from Piazza San Marco.
