We did a 9-day vacation in Rome, Florence, and Venice and this hotel was, by far, our favorite. The hotel is situated in a quiet, residential neighborhood about a 10 minute walk from St. Mark's. While it made the trip to and from the train station and airport time consuming, we enjoyed the peace and quiet, especially after experiencing the... more

Located in off of typical tourist area but only 15 min. walk from S. Marco. Residential neighborhood with everyday life atmosphere. Very quiet at night. Entrance from back alley. 10 min. walk from Arsenal or Giardini vaporetto stop. Nice breakfast. Warning for bigger in size guests: very small shower, no elevator (lift). No cable or wireless internet in the room.... more

By Venice standards this hotel is actually quite nice. There's no lift in the hotel though so if your bags are heavy - make sure you have someone with you who can lift them. We decided to come into Venice by water bus - which was nice - but also lengthy. The other alternative takes 10 mins - the regular... more

We booked through European Destinations and Venice was our last stop (after visiting Rome and Florence). This hotel was easy to get to by taking the water bus (vaporetto) #1 from the train station to the Arsenale stop. The #1 stops at just about EVERY stop along the Canal, so if you want a shorter route to get you there... more

Castello is a great neighborhood. Quiet, local, and close to St. Marks. Via Ghirabaldi is a great place to shop like a local, eat at a local restaurant, shop in a grocery store, etc. The staff is helpful, the rooms are ok, considering they are in Venice. Don't expect a view, and the apartment room across the street could use... more

We reviewed several hotels and since we had a budget and the US Dollar was weak against the Euro we decided on this one based on our budget. Once we arrived in Venice we were delighted to see that the hotel was away from the masses of tourists, yet close enough to everything. Rooms are small (very small), bathrooms are... more

Last hotel of our stay and the worst. Requested not to stay in apartment, but hotel desk manager paid no attention. Dark, dingy and needs lots of TLC. Plaster was coming off ceiling onto the bed and furniture. No phone. TV did not work even after reporting it to manager. Windows looked out into alley way; very dark and dreary.... more

We have just returned from a two night stay at the Corte Contarina in Venice. We travelled to Venice from Treviso, the easiest and cheapest way to get there is to take the connecting ATVO Eurobus service. Bus times coincide with Ryanair arrivals and departures, and the fare is much cheaper than a taxi, only €5 one-way or €9 return.... more

Was told initially 5* by booking company - it most certainly is not. First room we had was at the top of 4 very steep flights of stairs, chair lift to first two. Shower so small if you weigh over 12 stone you literally wouldn't get in it.( door only slides half way) Bed right against wall and light switch,... more
