Great accessibility to Venice (bus out the front, train around the corner) and we did not need to drag our luggage up and down stepped bridges, or internal stairs, which is so often the case when you stay in Venice. We stayed two nights at the end of our 2+ week trip. It was inexpensive and convenient to Venice. We had a rental car, so it made more sense for us to stay in Mestre than it did for us to stay in Venice. It was an easy walk to the train station and the parking was far more reasonable... more
