We chose to stay at the Rio Alto Small Charming Inn from the reviews on TripAdvisor, and it did not disappoint. We were pleasantly surprised. For a city like Venice where it is very easy to be lost, it is located near the Rio Alto Bridge, so very easy to locate. The room and bathroom were very clean, and we... more

The Rio Alto is amazing. It was everything we could have asked for. The rooms were very clean and the air conditioning worked great. We were never bothered and honestly felt we were the only ones living in the whole apartment complex. There is a mini fridge in the room too. They provide drinks at a cheap cost, but they... more

Just returned from a lovely mini-break to Venice and had a fantastic time. Venice was everything I had hoped it would be and the Rio Alto was a lovely base. We took the Alilaguna from San Marco Airport to Rialto stop and the hotel was a 5 mins walk from there. Would definately recommend the Alilaguna, was very comfortable and... more

Good value hotel, well placed within centre of town. Staff v professional, and welcoming. Whilst there are a few downsides (the breakfast room could be a bit cheerier, and the split between sites - there are two parts of same hotel, one around the corner from the other), basically you could do a lot worse (and pay a lot more)... more

We are a young couple who have just been traveling through Europe. We stayed in Venice during July (which meant it was very hot and crowded- as all the guide books say it’s probably best to go there either earlier (April/May) or later (September)). However, the Rio Alto was a good base from which to explore this unique city. When... more

Stayed for 3 nights in June, and can highly recommend the hotel for a stay in Venice. Location is ideal, a very short walk to the main sights. We had a canal view room with 4 poster bed, and have to say, did not find noise to be a problem whatsoever (you can hardly hear outside noise with the windows... more

We stayed here for four nights over the Valentines weekend, and thought that the hotel was absolutely brilliant. It took a while to find the Hotel Bartolomeo (to check in and pick up the keys), but the directions provided led us there relatively easily! Check in was great, and the receptionist took us round to the Rio Alto and settled... more

We were pleasantly surprised to see our room. It was very clean and moderately sized for 2 travellers. The room was equiped with a bathroom (toilet, shower and hairdryer). We stayed in room 3 (no view), but we would stay in that room again. This hotel is in a great location (minutes from the RioAlto bridge). It was easy to... more

Stayed at Hotel Rio Alto from 9/29 - 10/2/07. Hard to find but worth it. Very pleasant, helpful & courteous staff. Room was very clean and the shower was large for Italy. Breakfast was very, very simple...we ate out 2 of the 3 mornings. For the price of the room it was definately worth it and we would not hesitate... more

Based on Trip Advisor, and reviews from Hotels.com, I booked a double room at 140 Euros a night. Its sister hotel, Hotel Bartolomeo, serves as a front desk and is also where breakfast is served. Both are a bit tricky to find, but once you get that part down, the location is fantastic. Rio Alto is a stones throw from... more
