Allthough the location is great, jus a few hundred meters behind Piazza San Marco, the Hotel is run without "love". The older rooms are furnished with crappy furniture, the bathrooms do not have warm water at "rush hour", the mosquitoes from other reviews are still there in masses (but most likely in other hotels as well). They changed our reservationd... more

We were a group of four and share a great clean and warm room with a big and clean bath too.As far as it's not a luxory place, and by what I have listened about the average hotels in this city I really recommend this place to whoever who wants to have a short period of time in this city... more

I stayed in Astoria last November, when all Venice is quiet and there are not crowdy storms of people everywhere. The city is amazing in this period..you can walk around easily and don't have to wait hours and stand lines on monuments and gondolas. Astoria staff was warm and helpful and welcome us with kindness and nice words. They also gave us a... more

“Dump” is the operative word and it goes down hill from there. In my professional life my wife and I have lived and traveled all over the world. This hotel is by far, the worst place we have ever stayed in our lives. Blobs of blood both on the dirty fabric headboard and on the walls where mosquitoes had been... more

We first booked our hotel at B&B Rota but when we arrived there they informed us that they overbooked and sent us to the Astoria. HORRIBLE PLACE! Our bathroom was COVERED in black mold. Never seen anything so bad in my life. The room had a lot of mosquitos as well, which kept us up at night. I ended up... more

I had a very interesting experience in this little but nice Venetian hotel. It's situated in the central Venice,S.Marco is really close,Rialto is at 5 minutes walking. The S.Marco neighbourhood where the hotel is,is safe and quiet.Always security men and tourists until late night.Really close to the main popoular and attractive nightlife place,S.Margherita.In this period you are a few steps from... more

After reading all the bad reviews on this hotel,i was scared to go in there.i booked in advance so i can't retrieve my reservation or i had to pay a penalty. I left home in pain,i read in these pages....mosquitos,broken doors, horrible bathrooms and so on....i was really sorry about it. When i arrived there,i found all these people were absolutely... more

We chose this hotel because it was a Rick Steve's recommendation. It was the most disgusting hotel we have ever seen. I wouldn't even let my dogs stay in these conditions. The shower is a drain the middle of the bathroom, centered between the sink and toilet. We had to leave the windows open, because there was no a/c. We... more

I was travelling last year throughout Europe with my two sisters. When trying to find a room in Venice that had a great location but was reasonably cheaper than other hotels in the city, we stubbled upon the Hotel Astoria on a hotel website. When we first arrived everything seemed to be ok....except that they insisted that we pay cash... more
