I booked this hotel based on Trip Advisor reviews not really being sure what to expect. Overall I recommend this place, with a few cautions. As a solo, first-time visitor to Venice my priority was to find accommodation close to Piazza San Marco. Even though Casa Petrarca was a one-star, bare-basics option it suited me perfectly as I spent most of my days and nights wandering the streets soaking in the surroundings of a remarkable city. 105 euro a night was a good rate for... more

This place is just fabulous. Had a lovely, clean room with air-con; nice breakfasts; very hospitable staff. It's a super location- very near Piazza San Marco. You can't go wrong with Locanda Casa Petrarca which overlooks the canal and it's very reasonable and safe. more

A great little spot, fantastic location very close to Piazza San Marco but it is overlooking a gorgeous little canal and bridge. A little difficult to find, but that is all part of the attraction of Venice. The hosts are lovely, efficient and helpful, but laid back as well. all rooms are clean and comfortable.
