Proximity to the Verona train station was more of an issue for us as we were only staying one night and had a morning train to catch. But I really liked this hotel inside, for its lack of IKEA-like furniture and cookie-cutter styling. We didn't find the evening walk from the centre of the town too ominous, but perhaps in... more

Stayed here as part of a European roadtrip. From the outside i have to say we were a little concerned but when we got inside our fears were gone...its a rustic town hotel with a modern interior twist....perfect. Our room was big, had a small balcony, and AIR CON!!!!! Given it'd been about 35deg that day this was a godsend!... more

We stayed at the Scalzi for one night in August 2009. We were based at Lake Garda but wanted to stay overnight in Verona as first, Verona demands more than one days sightseeeing and, second, we had tickets for the opera which wouldn't finish until almost 1am. I spent some time researching hotels but they were either very expensive or... more

Verona is a beautiful city with fine hotels - this isn't one of them. Location is a 20m walk outside of the old town - the hotel's map makes it look like a 5 minute walk! To be fair the rooms have obviously recently been renovated and are quite nice - certainly bigger than average. If this is what is... more

Dear Guest of Nottingham, just to point and answer to your comments: is true that there is no elevator, the building is historical and there is no way to put it, but the rooms "beautiful and spacious" are all on the first floor and always we help people in distress. For the same reasons is very difficult to find the...

We stayed at the scalzi for one night on our way travelling from venice to milan. The hotel was very easy to find and was about a ten to fifteen minute walk from the train station with big bags. The hotel was in the direction of the city walls and another five to ten minute walk in that direction took... more

I stayed here with my girlfriend and chose the hotel after viewing the lovely photos on the hotel’s website. Having arrived, I found that the photos where misleading. The bed was uncomfortable; bathroom was very tired and pretty grim; I didn’t think it was very good value for money, but on seeing what else is around for the price I... more

We have just returned from a visit to Verona for the opera. We chose this hotel from a Verona website and found it delightful. The staff were pleasant and helpful. Our room was nicely furnished in an old fashioned way but the bathroom was outstanding. Excellent stylish plumbing which was always working perfectly. The breakfast was rather limited but the... more

We booked through the hotel booking agency in Verona, when we arrived in the city. Hotel Scalzi renovations were just wrapping up, and our room was newly furnished, comfortable, and unique ... gold trim, very nice bathroom ... not your typical hotel room. Our room was a bit small, but for the price, very good value. Breakfast on the mezzanine... more
