The hotel reception was very friendly, welcoming and helpful. The room, while fairly simple was very comfortable and spotlessly clean. Breakfast was good and the best about ths hotel is the location - walking distance to all the sites, shopping (not that theres much) and restaurants, cafes and bars as well as the train and bus stations (take the 1/2... more

The hotels location is second to none, absolutely perfect. I'd read some negative reviews and got a bit nervous, but to be honest I was worrying about nothing. Yes it's basic, but it's spotlessly clean and the bathroom was well equipped, modern and spacious. Breakfast runs from 0700 untiil 1030 which is helpful if you have a late night the... more

The location is perfect; many restaurants near by and in walking distance to the must-see spots. The room was clean (they clean it every day) even if we were welcomed by a cockroach when first entered our room. When we got rid of it, we didn´t have any more "visits" of this kind. The staff do not speak much english,... more

When we first arrived at Hotel Italia we found the hotel to be smart with an average standard. The receptionist was friendly and followed us to the room. The room was large and clean, but we immediately found a cockroach. The receptionist seemed stressed about it and ran around trying to catch it, but it disappeared and he had to... more

My partner and I stayed six nights at this hotel. Contrary to the other reviews we found the staff very friendly and helpful, if slightly reserved. Their English was fine and we had no problems communicating. Our room was very clean and well maintained. There was a TV in the room but no kettle which we would have liked. Breakfast... more

I stayed here for a week in a triple room with my two children. The reviews on this hotel so far all seem entirely fair: the staff are not particularly eager to please (although they became more friendly during the week, as I practised my clunky Italian), nor very child-friendly. Our room was basic and dingy with a view of... more

We've recently returned from staying at the Hotel Italia for 3 nights in July 2007. I'd recommend anyone to avoid it. Whilst notionally having all the expected facilities, the staff here are all tired looking and unhelpful. I didn't see a single smile from one of them in 3 days. Mind you, the hotel was clean, so much so that... more

This is an awful and overpriced hotel. No investment since 1970s. Old tired rooms and bathrooms with dated cracked fittings. Avoid it at all costs! more

Stay at the Hotel Italia in Old Cagliari for its handy location: lots of good restaurants nearby; 300 yards from the train and bus depots; 150 yards from the sea-facing Via Roma; 400 yards from where the Tirrenia ferry docks (daily overnight sailings to Civitavecchia). There is also hourly bus service to the airport. We stayed three nights in early... more

We stayed in both the Italia and the T Hotel on this trip and they are not in the same category which is one disadvantage of the Tripadvisor ratings. The T hotel is better in everything (except location and coffee) as one would expect from a hotel in a highter and more expensive category. The Italia is in a super... more
