Once you've rung the bell and navigated the old lift (standard lift in Sicily, we discovered in other places), the people are helpful and efficient. We booked the suite, and it's lovely, it feels like you've stepped back in time. The ornate ceiling is particularly lovely, and the bed was extremely comfortable. The breakfast has everything you need, but honestly,... More

The Manganelli Palace Hotel is a microcosm of the city of Catania itself ( bear with me). Sitting underneath the ever-present menace of Mount Etna, Europe's most active volcano - which was erupting spectacularly by the time we flew home - Catania was written off in our guide book as not being worthy of note, and being the Sicilian capital... We found Manganelli Palace located on a narrow street amid uncollected piles of garbage (probably a refuse collection strike). After the chaotic and stressful drive into the city during the evening rush hour, walking up the four flights of stairs to the reception on the top floor because someone had not closed the door of the lift provided light relief... Not the whole palace, indeed, but one floor of it. Ring the bell, get into an old old elevator, with space barely enough for two, and here you are, in the hotel, a very small one, occupying just a floor of the beautiful palazzo. It actually seems very modern, until you enter the room, and there you go, fantastic ceilings... More

We stayed for one night in this Hotel and overall it was a good experience. It is in a great location if one wants to visit the city centre. City centre can be reached on foot. Staff was very helpful and very nice. The staff held our luggages after check out in order for us to be able to visit... More

Very good hotel for the price. Nice rooms, good breakfast, good service. The hotel is just one block from the main street Via Etnea and three blocks from the Duomo. Parking inside the palace or on the square outside. Clean rooms, ok showers, not perfect air conditioning (or did we not know how to fine-tune it??).

The hotel location is great but the room is so noisy and I couldn't sleep easily.the room is big enough and with a nice painting on the ceiling but the bathroom is so small that you can't move easily. The breakfast room is very small and breakfast quality is really poor.

The location was great, being in between the bus station and main piazza. The room was clean, had plenty of room and a small balcony; however, there was no fresco of any kind, just white paint (room right off of the breakfast room). The staff was very friendly and most spoke good English. All of the recommendations they gave me... More

Manganelli Palace is perfectly situated close to the city centre of Catania. It's a "Palazzo" of the XVIIIth century which has kept beautifully painted ceilings in each bedroom. The welcome was warm and the staff particularly helpful.

Manganelli Palace is located in Catania centre, close to Piazza del Duomo and the busy shopping street Via Etnea. It is lively busy on Saturday outside and until late night quite noisy, which can be heard inside, despite the curtains and windows. Easiliy reachable with bus 457 from the airport. Buy the busticket (€ 1.50 vs a taxi € 20)... More
