Hotel Villa Astoria is a small hotel in an tradional villa , runned by Mauro and his wife. Mauro makes his guest feel welcom and at home. Nice rooms wit a stunning view on the coastline of Mazzaro. It is only a view minutes walk to the centre of Taormina and the hotel has parking facilities, but be sure to... More

The Villa Astoria is located on a main city street just a few hundred yards from Porta Messina and the Corso Umberto, so all the shops and piazzas that make Taormina so interesting are all close by. Mauro, the manager, is engaging, helpful, fluent in English, and knows every city detail that might prove useful. The building has the appearance... More

We stayed at the Hotel Villa Astoria, Taormina for four nights. We arrived at Taormina mid-evening by the intercity train from Naples and caught the local bus to the town's bus terminal. Villa Astoria is directly across the road which was really handy. Mauro greeted us when we arrived, completed the paperwork, explained about breakfast and places for dinner. We... More

Well situated. A 10 minutes walk to the historic center, a 5 minutes walk to the cablecar that takes you to Mazzaro Beach and Mauro is a perfect host.Makes you feel at home and shows you where to enjoy really fine food. A good breakfast and sound advices about places of interest in the region. Private parking and he even... More

I don't know where to begin. Mauro made our trip an unbelievable experience. All the reviews we read are true so I won't repeat them. Our purpose for being there was to visit birthplaces of my Grandparents. We did however manage to squeeze in some of the things he suggested like the restaurant where we ran into people from my... We spent six nights here instead of the three we had planned. It was small and friendly. The owner Mauro was really helpful, suggesting places to visit and restaurants to use. His English was perfect. We had freshly baked bread and freshly squeezed orange juice at breakfast each morning and got tea at the bar each evening. Our room had... More

I am not sure I can recommend this place enough. While the rooms themselves are not extraordinary the view from the sea view rooms is and the service provided by the gregarious owner Mauro was exceptional. He gave us great ideas on what to see in Taormina and told us how to get there. He had great suggestions on where... More

Three things made for a wonderful experience: Mauro, the accommodations, and the town. Mauro, the owner, couldn't have been more helpful, from guiding us to restaurants, printing out my boarding pass, bringing some extra things to our room, giving directions to our next destination, and generally being a great conversationalist. The room we had was quiet and comfortable (#12). The... More
