Nice, modern clean room My only negative about this place is the small bathroom and shower stall - a bit hard to maneuver. However, otherwise, . From the kind & friendly staff, to the lavish breakfast (bread, pastry, meat, cheese, cereal, OJ, cappucino), to the clean modern room with excellent air-conditioning, . Excellent location near the sites and the train... more
The service we received was absolutely excellent, all three receptionists we saw and dealt with were extremely polite and eager to help in any way they could. That's about all the positive things I can say about this hotel. It is located within walking distance of all major attractions-if you don't mind walking on rubbish, vomit, broken glass etc. Parking... more
OK, there are nicer places to be found. But at 65 euros, I have to say that I was completely satisfied. We came in from Rome for two days and one night in Florence, so we just needed a place to spend one no-frills night. The facilities are old, the carpet needed to be replaced, and the bed was less... more
Great hotel for the price. Really good location in the center of the city, can walk everywhere. Rustic Tuscan feel but definitely not a five star place. Extremely helpful management. The wireless internet is really slow but there are plenty of nearby internet cafes. more
There on our honeymoon, great service from the hotel staff, close proximity to all the art and architecture, I always wanted to see. The communal terrace adds to the charm of the place, it was a comfortable, smooth stay. more

Unfortunately, this place did not meet my expectations at all and I would not return. Positive aspects: - Location was not bad.... more
We booked in to the Basilea for 7 nights. I would rate this hotel as 2 star . We had a quiet spacious room at the back with a window and shutters that were rusting and hard to open and close, Bedroom and bathroom were clean but in desperate need of decoration.Electric sockets were dodgy and bathroom was tiny with... more
The hotel has always been accommodating. Questions or needs are taken care of at any hour. The rooms are a good size and the location so central, I have always felt comfortable and continue to count on the hotel on my visits to Florence. more
We were very disappointed with our stay here. We wanted a hotel close to the railway station, and a travel agent recommended the Basilea to us. Location-wise it was okay, but in the end we were glad we were only there for two nights. The room was small and smelly, the wallpaper was peeling from the walls, the bathroom was... more
