The California is situated in an ideal position for exploring Florence, we couldn't believe how close it was to the Duomo. We booked directly with the hotel and found the rates very reasonable compared to other hotels in the centre of Florence. All the staff were friendly and the front desk staff speak English very well. Decent room, but very poor shower- no curtain, and it did not drain. The staff was awful-- after being robbed, they would not help at all. Other than the great location, there is no good reason to stay here. more

Couldn't beat this one for the price. 4 of us stayed for 132.00. Included wonderful breakfast, air conditioning worked, exceptionally clean. Very friendy staff. yes, the stairs are awkward, but this place really can't be beat. Paid much more than that for two other nights in Florence without air or breakfast and not clean.
