After reading the reviews, we decided to book Hotel Merlini for our Florence trip. Stayed 4 nights and paid more than other recent reviewers did, unfortunately. We were given the room with a balcony and the beds looked like hospital beds. Decent room with "weird" functioning air-conditioner/ heater. Breakfast was simple and coffee was good. Good thing about this hotel... more

We stayed three nights at the B&B which was close to everything we wanted to do (we could see the Duomo dome from our room.) The room was okay, but clean. Beds were kind of hard, but we were so tired after sightseeing that it didn't matter too much. The owners/staff were pretty reserved and seemed more concerned about whether... more

If, like some reviewers, having no TV, phone or refrigerator spoils your trip, then this isn't the place for you. But if you need a spotlessly clean, comfortable, characterful and welcoming base from which to explore the beauty of Florence, Hotel Merlini would be a perfect choice. We were surprised by how quiet our room and the street was, given... more

Albergo Merlini is a bed and breakfast but they don't serve breakfast unless you pay extra. That's dumb. There's a hostel right behind the B&B so at night, it's really loud and noisy if your room faces the hostel. Kids stay up late at night at this hostel and hang out in the courtyard eating and drinking and talking to... more

Florence is very small and this hotel is located meters from the main train station, and meters from the city center. Overall the place is nice, clean, roomy and the rooms are quiet big. Staff is very nice and helpful. The only Con is that is situated on the third floor with no lift. more

Pros: Cheap, quiet, 3 minute walk from train station, large rooms, located on a main through street with lots of cafes and markets, laundry line outside window for drying clothes. Cons: Older hotel with dingy hallway that smells like smoke, no phone or t.v., breakfast not included, very hard, uncomfortable bed. 3 story walk-up with no elevator. Owners don't speak... more

We stayed at the Merlini at the beginning and end of our trip to Tuscany. The albergo is an easy walk from the train station. It's on the third floor (walk up) of a 16th century building, with large windows (they're screenless, so bring mosquito repellent in the warm months), nice beds and furniture, and more charm than one might... more

We had a big double room with a modern en suite bathroom. Great location in walking distance to train station and major attractions. If you just need a room to explore Florence rather than spending lots of time in the hotel this is perfect. Very friendly staff (family), helpful and most spoke English. more

We stayed at Hotel Merlini for one night and had a great stay there. We arrived an hour before check in so weren't sure if a room would be ready for us. Luckily, we were able to check in early and were immediately taken to our room (#11) at the end of the hall. We were very happy with our... more
