The location of the Proconsolo Rooms is its best feature, very close to the main attractions eg. the Duomo, the Uffizi Gallery, the Ponte Vecchio etc. The room I shared with my daughter was basic for our one night whistle stop tour of Florence, and it had crisp clean bed linen, comfortable beds, tall airy ceilings, a much needed fan.... more

If you are looking for a cheap place to stay this is it... its in a good location... very close to all the major attractions... as long as you arent planning on staying in your room it would be fine. I wonder if a lot of people complaining here regularly expect to get something for nothing. We paid €60 per night for a room 5 minutes walk from the Duomo. At that price you should not be expecting luxury. We did get the room with the fresco - it was spacious but basic. The main problem is the shared bathrooms... more

Our room was spacious, clean and quite pleasant. Excellent location. Unfortunately, I think that only one of the rooms has a painted ceiling so don't get taken in by the photo! We didn't expect luxury from any of our hotels along our travels around italy, and this certainly isn't luxury - very simple - a bed and a cupboard! more

I stayed there with a friend, fortunatly only for 2 nights. We asked for a twin room with private bathroom, they confirmed it but when we arrived we found a double room with share bathroom, it was terrible, no tv, no telephone, not clean, everything old and dirty. From reading the other reviews there seems to be 2 Proconsolo Rooms. The one of Via Proconsolo, owned by a Croation lady, and another one owned by a Spanish lady - apparently called Proconsolo Rooms 2.
