We have been staying at Villa Agape for the past 14 years. It is a little piece of heaven on earth, tucked into the mountain side a 10 minute walk up from Piazza Michaelangelo. The nuns are like family to us - warm and loving and caring - and food is wonderful too! The gardens cascade down the mountain side... more

We spent five nights at Villa Agape in March 2009 and loved it. It was wonderful to get away from the busyness of Florence and the view from our bedroom window was utterly spectacular. The nuns speak NO English, but are wonderfully sympathetic and hospitable. You will manage if you learn a few guidebooks phrases. For four of the nights... more

Use your hands while you are speaking and they will know what you want to tell them. The rooms are clean, calm but without luxury. Villa Agape is... more

Villa Agape is the most wonderful place I have ever stayed. The moment I walked through the big ornamental gates, I felt like Maria in Sound of Music as a lovely elderly nun greeted me by name. Once owned by a friend of Galieleo Galilei and later the Duchess of Aosta, this fifteenth century villa is now run by the... more

Much better than average, as convents go. The beds were comfortable, rooms spacious and well-furnished, lots of nice common rooms, and georgeous formal gardens surrounding the villa. Costs was around 50 Euro per person, 72 for half board. There is a curfew. The only disadvantage is that there is a 10 minute walk up a steep hill from the bus... more
