My husband and I just returned from a short break to Pisa. We stayed at Leonardo Hotel, great location, about 10 minutes walk to the Leaning tower, lots of good restaurants within 2 minutes walk. The room is decent, bathroom is OK. I would not count on the included continental breakfast, it's not good. Coffee and crossant are terrible. more

At first glance, not so bad. But then we saw the room. No toilet paper, musty smell and bed bugs ! Not kidding. My friend awoke covered in bed bug bites on her legs. It was loud all night. Not a "people having fun" kind of loud, but a "boys in the hood" kind of loud. My flight was at... more

The best thing about this hotel is its location, right next to the University, which was handy for our conference. The hotel is typical of Tuscan and Umbrian privately-owned small hotels – small rooms, even smaller bathrooms, and rooms often without daylight. We have stayed in a number of these and been quite happy. You get what you pay for... more

This hotel is on a small side street in Pisa but convenient to shopping, restaurants and the Leaning Tower. Rooms are small and bathrooms are adequate. No car park available but you can park your car on the street outside the hotel. Breakfast is normal Italian breakfast! I would stay here again for its convenience. more

The e-mails sent when we booked the room made me think it was going to be a really nice, friendly hotel. This hotel should have been good but I think has seen better days. It has interesting trompe l'oeil frescoes on the walls and internal doors, painted recently. However, it was otherwise shabby. Our room's carpet hadn't been hoovered recently... more

Very centrally located in Pisa' old town - walking distance to everywhere. The staff is very friendly , and those on duty in the reception during daytime speak English. The breakfast room is somewhat small and you might have to wait for a seat there. Some of the rooms are kind of small, but comfortable. Leonardo has heathing even in... more

Lovely Hotel. Very quiet too the front of house staff very, very helpful and freindly. Beautiful bedroom, TV a bit high up but who wants to watch TV in Italy anyway, too much to see. Our room was delightful with lovely wooden beams and the shower room was fine too. The hot water did run out at 8 am, much... more

The hotel is down a narow smelly alley in the student quarter of Pisa. Cabs cannot get to the front door so they drop you off at the end of the Alley and you have to walk the last 100yds along the alley which is very uneven making it very difficult to pull wheeled luggage. Whilst it was clean our... more

Arrived after a long drive from Cassino and followed signs looking for a 3 star hotel. Found the Leonardo and were very pleased with our stay. It was well signed once you found the narrow street that it was in. The receptionist spoke English and was happy to show us to the room. Big pluses for us was the handy... more

Short answer: Good, basic, no frills hotel in a quiet location. We stayed there in April 2007, two adults and a 10 year old child. For our Italy trip, with stops in various cities, I priced hotels through various means, including consolidators like Expedia and Travelocity, certain smaller booking websites, and correspondence with the hotels directly (either by e-mail or... more
