We were supposed to meet friends here at their bnb and coordinate being picked up by relatives in Florence but our US phones weren't working and we had no wifi and ended up at the bnb of our friends in Siena. It was getting late and no one has showed up. My cousin found Daniela, the owner of the bnb and we explained the situation. She offered to put us up there for the night. We decided to stay for two nights since our friends were staying here. The apartment of our friends was much nicer in terms of view and decoration and layout. It also had two bedrooms. That would have been more preferable to me if I had to stay here again in the future. Its a bnb and we paid the same price of 45 euros each since it's per head. Our bnb was quite basic with a kitchen which we didn't use at all, a mini refrigerator, a tiny table and a couch. There are steps going down to the bnb. Comfortable toilet and shower room and towels. Bring your own toiletries for bnbs since this is not a hotel that will provide you with those things. It would be nice if they added these and we travelers don't have to worry about shampoo and soap. But I'm not complaining. What I like about it is there is a short cut to go to the local store at the back. On the way there, you get to see the tomatoes and vegetables and fruit trees that Daniela has. She even gave some to our friends and they were the sweetest tomatoes I tasted in this trip. The local store was also nice because this is where we had our two breakfast and we also shopped for some wine and bread and crostini. A lot of locals goes here and it seems to be popular. The only rule I didn't like was that you're supposed to be quiet inside your bnb and we're not loud but I've never been told this ever in all my rentals. We're on vacation/holiday, remember? We should be able to be out of our comfort zone when we are traveling. We must also turn off all the lights. But I like lights. If you want to turn lights off, then install the automatic detection lights. When you come in, the lights turn on. When you go out, the lights turn off. This bnb in Siena would not have the same rules in a bnb in Phuket. There I am renting a penthouse for $25 per head complete with gym and walking distance to the beach. No noise level has been imposed to us. Hotels don't ever say these to their guests. Otherwise, I'd feel that I was staying at some strict aunt's place for the night.

Response from albergaccio, Proprietario at L'Albergaccio
Responded 14 Sept 2015
During a busy day, while we were taking care of a couple getting it to the reserved room, we saw two persons with luggages sitting on the external stairs of the building, eating spaghetti on them. We asked if they had a reservation, and they said no.They were waiting for a couple of friends they weren’t able to contact, but they knew they had a reservation at L’Albergaccio. Being constantly in touch with all our guests in advance, we knew that their friends were coming, so we offered our help calling them with our mobile, letting the two ladies finally to speak with them for long time, then we offered them our last accommodation available: they didn’t have a place to stay and no reservation elsewhere. Initially they would stay by us only one night, than also a second night, founding the place very nice, they said. It’s hard to reply to a similar review: respect and politeness should be demonstrated being a person, on holiday or not, so our guests usually get off the lights when they leave the apartments, don’t disturb other guest being constantly loud, especially coming back at night, and don't leave the apartments in bad conditions, as these two ladies did. The other couple of guests, their “friends”, that booked the other separate apartment some months in advance, were more than nice and polite.I believe their words written regarding their stay here can be sufficient: "It was a beautiful picturesque location and allowed us to travel everywhere through tuscany with ease. The apt was large and perfect with a great space that allowed for comfort and good breeze during the hot august weather. Daniela and her family made us feel incredibly welcomed. Their expertise of the area and suggestions filled in our non scheduled time perfectly They made us welcome as if we were family on a visit from NYC”. Comparing an accommodation in Siena with another in Phuket (Thailandia), gives the right level of the conversation, at the end. It’s then clear the guest don’t remember they didn’t pay anything for the second night: in fact the other couple paid for them. No other words to tell, only our best wishes to this lady. Daniela

We spent four nights in l'Albergaccio and wished we could have stayed longer. Although we had never met before, we were welcomed like long lost friends by Daniela and Lorenzo who gave us excellent advice in a most charming manner on all aspects of our stay. Just a few metres from a handy minibus service that runs into the centre of traffic free Siena, and with extremely easy reach of some of the best villages in Tuscany, l'Albergaccio was an ideal base for our stay. I cannot recommend this accommodation and its perfect hosts too highly.

Our bedroom unit with ensuite was very comfortable and clean. Daniela and her son were very helpful in providing useful information about Siena. There is lots of on-site parking available. Free WiFi is also available, although to access a strong signal it was necessary to use an outside table. A excellent restaurant is also within 1km of the property. The property is located 5 minutes from a bus which runs into the centre of Siena for a cost of 1 Euro per person. The bus runs about every 15 minutes

Of all the places in Italy we've so far traveled, this b &b has been the worst. The owner, Daniela, was friendly in offering advice for the bus into Siena along with a recommendation for dinner. More than that, the place was a joke. Cold, damp, and very uninviting. The bed sheets were damp and I shivered throughout the night. Breakfast was extra, which we were not interested in. Walls bare and a rug on the tile floor would have been nice to warm your cold feet. Soap and shampoo would have also been a nice touch. Booked this learning it was a previous medieval prison, which no information once there gave any indication or history of it. Big disappointment.

Response from albergaccio, Direttore at L'Albergaccio

One of the worst guest we had, but this can happens. However, unforgettable. She arrived at 8 pm. for a single night, she had to quickly visit Siena, have dinner, sleep, no breakfast in order to save money, and then she left. She expected from us also a nightly lesson about the history of our building. The room we assigned her was opened, after a complete restoration, with everything new (walls, furniture, services, ensuite bathroom, floor, doors, windows), only five months before her arrival. Our sheets are provided by the local professional laundry service, category "top class", and were absolutely in excellent condition, as for the temperature inside the room. There's heating, too, that's immediately on when the temperature goes down and also extra blankets, but I understand she had no time to open the wardrobe. We don't use carpets for hygienic reason: all inside our rooms must be absolutely washable every day.I understand the lady would walk in room without her shoes, but our floor is made on precious travertine stone, not by heated plastic. Over each sink then there's the body soap dispenser. The price she paid, she avoid to mention: 60 euros for a double room with ensuite bathroom. I heartly wish the 3 persons founded her review helpful, to visit our property and try our services by themselves.A quick visit to the profile of this "spydrteals" is absolutely helpful. Guest not recommendable at all, sorry.

The hotel is located 10 minutes from Siena, it is simple, quiet and easy access to the outskirts of Siena. The room is comfortble and clean, shower box little small. We thank Daniela (and staff, to Lorenzo in special) who received us very well and provided us with important information about the tours and restaurants (very special typical toscana rstaurant "Capannina" near to the hotel). good area of free parking

We really felt at home in our large apartment, nicely decorated, quiet, a relaxing breath of fresh air after Florence, at a reasonable price: 35 euros per person, with a lot of space at our disposal: a separate kitchen, a large living room with sofas, lovely antique furniture (I love antiquitas! ), large brick walls and a stunning medieval beamed ceiling. Bedrooms were beautifully furnished and everything there was very clean. Daniella, the owner, is a polite, warm and very helpful young lady: she provided us a lot of helpful information about Sienna and surroundings, speaking an excellent English. We had a lovely time with her. It was nice to stay in the garden in the evening, with a glass of good wine bought in a farm in Montalcino, at a short distance from there. There's a free parking at the Albergaccio, and getting to Siena is very easy with the minibus (average five minutes). We could explore the fields at the back, and took lovely pictures. Gorgeous place and lovely host: I hope to return very soon.
