There may be one room or two without great views, but the place is a small oasis very near to everything. Walls are a little on the thin side but overall, you have to really be picky to find something unacceptable -- nice staff and nice decor. Decent value. Yes,one room has windows to small parking area-- not a "parking... more

We stayed for three nights at the Hotel Porta Romana and loved it. Although it is located on a busy street, you would never know once you got into your room. We booked through the hotel directly so that we could have a room with a view and it was definitely worth it! It's a cute converted farmhouse. The room... more

We spent a lovely evening at the Porta Romana. The hotel is just on the edge of the city but only takes 15 mins to walk to the 'centre' or main square. The walk will take you through the city walls and the past the Porta Romana itself. It's basically a gentle amble which will take you through the lovely... more

We were immediately impressed by where the hotel was situated, overlooking a gorgeous Tuscan valley. We recommend getting a taxi to the hotel if you arrive by train as it's quite a hike from the station and you will need to catch two buses to get there. Our room was clean and comfortable and the staff were exceptionally helpful and... more

We really enjoyed our stay here. It's situated on the edge of a hill, with a nice valley view of olive groves and a large patio in back. Our 2 bed room was quite large and had a large bathroom (shower only, which is common). Clean comfortable and quiet. It's outside the walls of Siena, so you have an up... more

We had a very hard time finding this hotel; their directions aren't really directions and our maps didn't really help. I'd recommend getting directions from the hotel ahead of time. Our room was comfortable with a tv, shower and toilet. There wasn't A/C, but we didn't need it in September. We had a great view overlooking the hills of Tuscany.... more

This hotel is ideally placed if you are travelling from the south. it is then easy to walk from the hotel into the old city and all the delights of Siena await. Parking is available and is a must for a hotel in this city. The room was very small and hot -no air con. But it had all the... more

This is a delightful budget hotel (we paid only E65-75 through venere.com). The rooms are a nice size with a little extra space to spread out or do yoga. Although located on a busy road, the rooms are away from the road and look over the Tuscan countryside. There is plenty of parking. The bathrooms are large and the towels... more

We found this hotel through Rick Steve's book. It is perfectly located about a 15 minute walk to the centre of Sienna. It is about 300m outside the Porta Romana, has an easily read sign and plenty of off street parking. Our room was ground floor, very spacious, with a huge bathroom and looked newly renovated. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, the breakfast... more

I will describe the positives and the negatives. Positives: Good location (outside from the wall of Porta Romana, 15 minutes walking), Great view from your room (it is better to specifically ask for view on your booking requests), Satisfactory breakfast, Clean rooms, Free parking Negatives: Small rooms, small bathrooms, Not so good accoustic (we could hear everything from the beside... more
