The ancient castle of Carpiano is among the hidden treasures of beautiful Umbria. This small hamlet is located at only 12 Km from the medieval town of Gubbio and 22 km from Perugia. In this pleasant place simplicity, elegance and warmth of genuine hospitality are ideally combined. The Borgo is surrounded by secular olive trees and lush woods in a pristine valley crossed by the Ventia stream. The three stone buildings that comprise it are perched on a spur of rock that ends with an infinity pool of salt water overlooking the valley. In the main building, the old church has been restored keeping the original frescoes and has been now converted into library and conversation room hosting classical music concerts and events. During the winter months meals are served in the large dining room in front of the warmth of the old fireplace while in the summer are served in the small square with breathtaking view over the valley.Home made bread, cakes and biscuits, vegetables from the vegetable garden and a search of quality ingredients, all strictly "seasoned with our own olive oil" ....The Borgo has only eight rooms all renovated respecting the original architecture and materials of the time. Get lost in the woods, plan to do very little, get accustomed to the silence are recommended activities!Borgo di Carpiano is also an ideal setting for an exclusive place to celebrate with your friends a special occasion. In house wine, cheese and olive oil tasting, cooking classes, therapeutic treatments and relaxing massages can be arranged. Horse riding, golf, rafting can be found in the nearby surroundings. The Borgo is in a strategic position to visit all the major Umbrian towns.

Our stay at Borgo di Carpiano was an unforgettable escape into a world of peaceful serenity and exquisite beauty. The historical buildings at Borgo di Carpiano have been lovingly and painstakingly restored, preserving their authenticity and charm. One of the highlights of our stay was the incredibly friendly and helpful staff. They were always ready to assist and ensure our experience was nothing short of perfection. The taste menu for dinner was a culinary journey filled with delightful surprises. Each dish was a masterpiece, showcasing the creativity and expertise of the chef. The attention to detail in the room's design and amenities ensured a relaxing and restful stay. While the Borgo di Carpiano's location in the hills is part of its charm, the drive to get there may require some careful navigation. It's a bit off the beaten track, but once you arrive, it's more than worth the journey. Our stay at Borgo di Carpiano was delightful. The blend of a picturesque location, lovingly restored buildings, a talented culinary team, and a warm, helpful staff made it a truly special destination.

We were lucky enough to stay three nights at this lovely location with another couple during mid June. Our friends are regular visitors and had been telling us about this place for some years. Our first visit did not disappoint. The old buildings have been lovingly and tastefully restored by the owners. From the moment you arrive you feel like you are coming home. The staff are warm and welcoming. Breakfast each morning on the terrace was a joy with the dappled sunshine shining on our table through the vine growing above. You are encouraged to mingle with the other guests if you wish and we met other regular visitors (and some new ones) during our stay. Our friends particularly like this aspect of the hotel. Dining each night is at the same time, but each party had their own separate table so dining is not communal. There is a lovely vegetable garden which I enjoyed wondering around. There are also some walks near the property and a swimming pool which was most refreshing. Despite the time of year it was actually a bit chilly in the evening and so dinner was served inside with a log fire nearby, it could not have been more perfect. Gubbio is a short drive away along a picturesque road. I felt you do need a car there but there were some regular guests who had been transported there by the hotel. Thank you for sharing your special paradise with us. Thank you Marilisa for everything, not least for for all you help me source the parmesan container I wanted and to Sylvia for her assistance with my efforts to try to speak Italian each morning. I have forgotten the names of the other members of staff but they were all wonderful!

This is our third visit to paradise. Been keeping it a secre….. but If you want to unplug from the world for a while and enjoy the best hospitality, food and wine then this small but perfectly formed place is for you. With 10 individually designed rooms, some with gardens and some with views, it’s so friendly and you meet amazing people from all over the world. Such attention to detail and extremely high standards from crisp cotton sheets to individual pool towels, from antique furniture to sustainable toiletries. Book well in advance to avoid disappointment Open from April to October on a hillside in stunning Umbria

Finding this place is an adventure in itself. Staying here is like having an affair. It is remote and romantic in every detail. To experience this place is to explore this location in all its' loveliness. Ricardo and Marilisa envisioned an experience that rewards its' guests with amazement, charm and Italian hospitality served up as an event not to be forgotten. Come for a visit and forget to leave.

Marilisa and Ricardo are superb and gracious hosts. They remodeled a church and medieval cottages to make for comfortable lodging in a gorgeous setting amidst the Umbrian hills. An infinity pool overlooks the forested hills adding to the serenity of the place. Meals on the terrace are delicious with an ample selection of quality wines. Highly recommended for chilling out and for day excursions to the surrounding areas.

We stayed in a superior room on 22nd and 23rd September which was our second visit to the very beautiful Borgo Di Carpiano....and it certainly won’t be our last! Firstly I have to say that you will be staying with Marilisa and Riccardo who are the most passionate, charming and generous hosts! The setting of the hotel is beautiful and unspoilt ....the food here is worthy of a Michelin star! The passion that goes into every detail of the food that is prepared is exceptional ! Most guests return year after year....that says so much about what awaits anyone lucky enough to stay here! don’t forget to visit the beautiful unspoilt town of Gubbio which is nearby. Thank you Marilisa and Riccardo ......we shall be back!

Arriving is a bit challenging especially the last two km of the downhill gravel road along the cliff. But driving slowly and hopefully no car coming across from the other direction- and you arrive to the home of Marilisa and Riccardo Parisi. This is where and when your vacation begins. You need not worry about anything- this wonderful couple with a dedicated staff of about 10 people will take care of everything! Another advantage is you get to meet other guests and share time with other tourists enjoy the 7:00pm Aperetivo just before the 20:30 dinner . Wake up in the morning open the wooden shades and see across the endless meadows. In one word- EXCELLENT! P.S make sure to wake up before 10:30am since you will not want to miss breakfast too!

A second visit to this wonderful place. This is for you if you want peace, beauty and fabulous, yet understated, hospitality. Imaginative and delicious food, with a fine selection of wines at reasonable prices. With seemingly effortless hosting, this feels like being invited to the best private party within truly unique surroundings. We will definitely be returning.

Nestled in the hills of Umbria is the Borgo which ticks every box- fine food superb location and the hosts that create an ambiance that is unrivalled anywhere we have stayed at during the past 30 years. Very difficult to book since with only 9 bedrooms most people reserve accommodation from year to year.In conclusion a very special place in which to let the problems of the world pass you by.Riccardo and Marilisa deserve their success. It is no wonder that they always receive the top rating.
