We wanted to escape for a night in Umbria, and we choose Gubbio, which is a supercute small town. We searched on tripadvisor, and Relais Ducale looked very good, considering the location and the fact that is inside an historical palace. Fantastic experience. Elegant, comfortable hotel with a friendly staff. Perfect location in central Gubbio, with a lovely garden area where you can enjoy a bottle of wine or just sit out in the evening air. And the complimentary breakfast is superb. Upon arrival in Gubbio, we found the parking lot where the hotel had instructed us to park and call them. We stayed for 4 nights in Sept 2008. The hotel is located right on the main piazza with easy access to everything in Gubbio, partly in an old palazzo and partly in the buildings behind, all with internal connection. We stayed here for two nights. The service was incredible, the room huge by Italian standards. My husband and I are huge Don Matteo fans. My husband and I spent five very pleasant nights in late September at Relais Ducale. Our 3rd floor room was a bit tired,but large and comfortable with great views over the roof tops, town and valley beyond on one side and the lovely rooftop garden on the other.
