Our stay in Helvetia Hotel of Basel was very nice. The services are great and the employees always smiling and ready to help. It's clean and the breakfast is very tasty. This hotel was an ideal location just next to the train station and bus to the airport. We were only staying here for one night on a stop over after getting train from zurich and flight to alicante the next morning. The staff were nice and pleasant. Great location, but unfortunately very noisy from thje street in front of the Hotel, we were there on a friday and saturday night and it was extremely noisy all night, for the price this Hotel is not good value, breakfast was okay, no problem with front reception, was very helpful with bag storage and directions, etc.

Terrible guy at frondesk at arrival, not frindy and polite at all. Terrible rooms, no renovation or mending has been conducted since 50 years, extremly noisy, not possible to close windows properly, carpet a shame for a country with such a reputation, cleanliness in general can be better, no working internet connection was available. this describes itself as a quiet select hotel with a personal touch, but it wasn't quiet and it's not particularly select. staff were helpful when we complained about the noise in our room which was at the front of the hotel, they did move us to a room at the back of the hotel, which was sadly almost as noisy....
