I had to stay here for a week with several colleagues. When I first arrived, there were ants all over my room, the same for another room my colleague was in. We both moved to another room, and fortunately for me, the 2nd room didn't have ants, but my colleague's second room did (she had to get bug spray to... More

The John Knox Centre offers hostel-like food and accommodation at very reasonable prices. For those of a certain age - like me - the place is evocative of noble causes (the Peace Corps, anti-apartheid movement) and rotten architecture. It comprises a two storey main block and a smaller separate one designed in the style known as 60's brutalism. Look for... More

Geneva is expensive, and John Knox Centre offered the best value I could find for location and facilities required. As others have said, it is on the basic and dated side, but its clean, and has helpful staff. The rooms are en suite. Breakfast is a bit functional but OK, otherwise eat out and I'd recommend resisting the temptation to... More

The main advantage for me for staying there is location, because I'm professionally active as trainer and the courses I run are in the John Knox Center... But that's the only advantage for staying there. The rooms could use some renovation and the breakfast is basic as well (served in a self-service restaurant). I wouldn't stay there if I would... This is a church-run conference centre, not a hotel. The rooms are basic, but clean and comfortable, and perfectly adequate when only used as somewhere to sleep. UK visitors should think "travel lodge" levels. It is walking distance from the Ecumenical Centre and other international organisations. A #8 bus from the OMS is the quickest and most convenient route into... More

A curious place in a rather plush suburb of Geneva. It's really a retreat, complete with (excellent) meeting spaces but also does single accommodation. The style is unchanged 1970's, all brown light fittings, concrete and wood. The rooms are basic (cell-like and some with no windows), but adequate. The staff are really friendly and helpful. The food decidedly average. But... More

I go rather often to Geneva. I find that the John Knox Center is probably the best solution for a medium term stay in such an expensive city. The prices are in fact rather low, compared to other available solutions in town. The Centre has several types of room, starting from small rooms with bunk beds and up to the... More

I have stayed at the Centre several times since 2001. Location: beautiful setting, quiet, safe & very walkable to U.N., WHO, NGOs & two bus stops. Geneva’s train station is a 15 minutes bus ride. Staff: multi-lingual, service oriented & their longevity with a helpful attitude makes them an invaluable resource on every imaginable subject. Guests for short- and long-term... More
