This was my third stay at the Alpenruhe in Wengen - August 2007, June 2008 and September 2009, and every time it was excellent. Absolutely quiet, spotless and the evening meal was always top notch. I chose this hotel from the internet after researching various places in Wengen and obviously I was well satisfied as I have made 3 trips.... more

This was a fantastic hotel! We stayed in late April, when admittedly we were the only people in the hotel, but it was wonderful. The views were absolutely awesome from our south-facing balcony. The room was cosy and warm, and although the bathroom was a little small, everything was scrupulously clean. However, the food in the evening (we went half-board)... more

The Alpenruhe is a bit of a hike from the train station, so if you can not walk up hill, do not choose this hotel. Staff picked us up upon arrival, as we called ahead from the Lauterbruen station prior to arrival at Wengen. Marion was accommodating, a little distant, but her english was way better than my swiss german.... more

We stayed at the Hotel Alpenruhe mid October when most hotels and restaurants are already closed, so we had no real choice. We are wondering how this hotel received three stars. The furniture and decor is oldfashioned and poor (probabyl 60s or 70s real bad taste), the rooms are small, so is the bathroom. Furthermore, there was a bad smell... more

I have posted a review in past years but it has disappeared. My wife and I stayed there for the third time this year and will go again. We thought we had become addicted, but this time we met an American couple who were at the hotel for no less than the 17th time. We like the hotel because it... more

Marion, the owner, was pleasant when we made the reservation, but in -person she was formal, cool and remote. Her personality rubs off on the rest of the staff, giving the hotel an unfriendly atmosphere. We did not feel welcome there and would not return. The breakfast was basic, without any variation from day to day. more

Myself and my partner picked the Alpenruhe because it had a room available over Christmas and the New year. The price is at the lower end of the 3*** hotels in Wengen. The hostess Frauline Provost is extremely helpful and so are the staff. We were picked up from the station and returned at the end of our stay. The... more

Oct 16 2005 my wife Jeanne and I flew from Ohare to Zurich on Swiss Air. Coach felt like first class. After reading lots of reviews we decided with all the places we wanted to see and all the luggage we had it would be best if we rented a car instead of using the rail system to do it... more

I just got back from a trip to Wengen and the Alpenruhe, and just want to go right back. The views from the south facing rooms (which all have balcony access) were breathtaking, and not topped by anything I saw in our 3 days there. Getting to the train does require a 5-10 minute walk, but being up on the... more

Went to Wengen, in 2nd week of May 2005. Most hotels closed and we were very nervous about where we would end up. We stayed at the Alpenruhe. What a pleasant suprise!!!! Our room was very nice and very comfortable. We had a room on the 4 th floor facing the mountains and the Lauterbrunnen Valley. What a spctacular view!!!!... more
