The Alpenruhe is a bit of a hike from the train station, so if you can not walk up hill, do not choose this hotel. Staff picked us up upon arrival, as we called ahead from the Lauterbruen station prior to arrival at Wengen. Marion, the owner, was pleasant when we made the reservation, but in -person she was formal, cool and remote. Her personality rubs off on the rest of the staff, giving the hotel an unfriendly atmosphere. We did not feel welcome there and would not return. Went to Wengen, in 2nd week of May 2005. Most hotels closed and we were very nervous about where we would end up. We stayed at the Alpenruhe. What a pleasant suprise!!!!
