We spent two nights at the Hotel Bella vista which truly does have a bella vista. The view of Lugano is spectacular and we enjoyed it each morning from our room. The hotel is simple but immaculate with a comfortable bed , ample space to move around, a kitchenette and even a small sitting area. I cannot recall exactly how much we paid for our room(somewhere in the range of 150 dollars per night) but the rate included a very satisfying breakfast. The price seemed fair-neither extremely expensive nor a bargain but considering our our weak dollar against the strong Swiss franc, we did not feel we had reason to complain.
The Bella Vista is located about 15 minutes by bus or taxi up the hill from the town of Lugano, itself well worth a two day visit, in a more remote but charming area. A few steps away from the hotel brings one to an idyllic town, Montagnola, where one really feels removed from the bustle of the world.
