Best Western Alpen resort is about 10-15 mins walk from the main train station. Once you arrived at the station, you can call the hotel and they'll send you a hotel shuttle bus to pick you up, complimentary..of course! It's a little bit closer to the Gornergrat one. The location of this hotel isn't really good, to be honest. It's... more

We stayed for 2 nights in early May arranged by travel agent. Good thing is the hotel does provide free transfers from train station to hotel and vice versa. So, give them a call when u reached instead of taking taxi which i think it may be costly. Overall i have mixed feelings during my stay here. The room assigned... more

My husband and I spent two nights here at the end of April, when most of the other hotels were closed. To get there, we took a taxi, which cost us 14 euro per person. If had had known better, I would have parked the car at the train station and took the train up. The drive in the taxi... more

Alpen Resort Hotel is a small hotel on the edge of town. Only ten minutes walk from Station. Don't get taxi arrange with hotel to collect you or walk. Room was large with balcony and great view of Matterhorn. It was lovely to look out every morning and see the mountain in a different mood. Breakfast was good (even champagne)... more

We stayed at the Alpen Resort Hotel Zermatt for 3 nights as the second part of our Glacier Express tour which took us to Grindelwald first, Zermatt then Davos. We arrived in Zermatt by train and there are courtesy telephones at the station to phone the Hotel. Zermatt is traffic free and only electric type cars are allowed in the... more

This is a very typical chain type of hotel and has nothing out of the ordinary to really offer. The rooms are large and have a balcony that face the Matterhorn. The breakfast was typical for European standards and enjoyable. That is ok, because you are there to enjoy the village of Zermatt and the main attraction of being in... more

Food is fantastic for a ski hotel (and the dodgy keyboard accompaniment with dinner adds to the charm). Location is good for ski lifts although not brilliant (a 5 to 10 minute walk to the Gornergratt) although you can catch the ski bus from outside. Lesiure facilities top class also. more

We booked the Alpen resort in August based on a great early booking price, a full week package including half board and ski pass, this was peak season (first week March). Hotel is situated on the edge of the centre of the village and is a short walk from the station and 2 of the 3 lift stations, 10 mins... more

My wife and I stayed in this hotel for 2 weeks in December for our honeymoon and it was amazing! The rooms were great, staff was very helpful and all spoke english. It is a 2 minute walk from the train station and town center. We had half board so our breakfast and dinner was provided by the hotel and... more

We stayed at the Best Western Alpen Resort Hotel in July 2005 and could not fault it. There is free parking at a sister hotel in Tasch and a little bus that takes you from Zermatt railway station to the hotel. We found the staff to be extremely helpful, the facilities excellent and the position of the hotel good. We... more
