I stayed at this hotel for one week at the end of January with my husband, son and fiancee and daughter. We booked the trip through Inhgams travel company. This is the third hotel of a similar standard that we have stayed at in Zermatt. As the Alex was rated 51st out of the hotels in Zermatt I was apprehensive... More

We stayed here two nights as part of a group tour. The hotel is a very short walk from the train station. The lobby of the hotel is very charming and warm. The bar has several little nooks with different themes such as The Highlander, Cupid's Corner, and several others. The hotel is a bit of maze, you can tell... More

When you walk in to Hotel Alex you feel like you have come home. Large quiet rooms, and thick plaster walls protect you from the harsh winter weather, gently tucking you in for the night. Libations (the internally warming kind and others) are available in the cozy bar area, the kind of place that's not meant for "knocking back a... More

Hotel Alex has the ambience of old world ski lodge. It is full of interesting wood carvings in all areas of the hotel including the rooms. The rooms are quite large, and on entry, looks a little gawdy, but the bed is very comfortable. The bathroom is quite large and dated, but clean. We found the room to be overheated,... More

The hotel was absolutely wonderful. The views were amazing. The rooms were very unique and made you feel as if you were in a wonderful place. You could walk anywhere you wanted. There was a wonderful outside patio, expansive pool and everything you could imagine. The hotel staff, with the exception of a couple of staff in the restaurant, were... More

Hotel Alex is located just a block or so off the main street of Zermatt. Everything is close by. It's decor is most interesting from the bar stools of animal hide seats and head and horn shaped backs to the painting on the ceiling above our bed. The cozy lobby areas add a warm ambiance. Of course, having the Matterhorn... More

The Hotel Alex was a fun hodge podge of rooms and sections. Old. Nice bartender. BIg dining areas and an incredible swimming pool. I had a big room...even a little living room area...overlooked the mountains, of course. In easy walking distance of everything in "downtown" Zermatt. More

We were with a group and stayed 2 nights at Hotel Alex. Our room had a bedroom and a small sitting room. The decor was garish, it reminded us of a brothel shown in movies-dark red Damask walls with red furniture. Not very cozy. The room was expensive but not worth it. We stayed in much better places for much... More

Four friends and I spent a week at the hotel for a skiing trip. The location of the hotel is excellent. 2 minute walk to the main train station and Gornegrat rail to the slopes. My partner and I had a junior suite which was very stylish and comfortable. Two friends who paid the same as us had an inferior... More

We have stayed at the Alex five or six times now. We would never stay anywhere else in Zermatt. Granted the decoration is weird enough to give you nightmares but we think that is the charm of the place. We go with our teenage sons and they bring a friend each - so four boys in one room aged from... More
