As many of the reviews here state, this hotel is noisy, basic and reasonably clean. At around 80 Euros a night this does not constitute good value for money at all. I ended up checking myself out during the night and sleeping in my hire car as it was so bad. more

This hotel is terrible. We experienced the worst night in a hotel ever. The nearest neighbour was a night club with extremely loud music which lasted until about 4 in the morning. It was impossible to sleep. Suddenly, we realised why the Hotel offered us ear plugs for free! However, they were of no use with this loud music! more

Double room was good size and continental breakfast typical and acceptable. I stayed on 5th floor which was supposedly the quietest room. The Only way I was able to slepp was "taking 10mg. of Ambien nightly and wearing Bose Noise Reduction headphones"!! Marco and Urs working the front desk were fantastic, extremely helpful. Yes, it is noisy when the disco starts but the noisy dips around midnight. But the location is great, the staff were very friendly and most importantly, helpful with info about getting around Zurich. A continental breakfast served directly to your room is a luxury. There is no restaurant but down the street there are plenty. More straights than gays... more

The Goldenes Schwert is not the place to stay if you are looking for a quiet night of sleep. Please note that there are two nightclubs on the lower level of the hotel, and even if you wear ear plugs, you still might hear" thump thump thump" in the night.
