I enjoyed the rock and roll themed rooms and such - it was fun yet not overdone. Rooms were small and sparse but clean. Staff was friendly. The hotel is along a pedestrian-only street which was very enjoyable with tons of cafes, restaurants, and shops nearby. Zurich is a wonderful city, but very expensive. The river has the cleanest water... more

I have just spent five days staying at the Zic Zac (I'm working here on business for a few weeks fyi). OK, first things first - this is Zurich, one of the most expensive cities on the planet, if you didn't know that before you came, then you are indeed a naive traveller and in for a massive shock. I'm... more

We were supposed to stay here for two nights at the end of August 08. The lobby seemed shabby and dated. You can also apparently smoke anywhere in this hotel, so it is quite smelly. We had a twin room with shared toilet. The room had a weird smell. The wallpaper was torn and the TV had tape on it... more

Rooms are clean. Toilets and shower are shared. At night it can be noisy outside. But with closed widows its quite. I had a big Problem with the Staff. My booking agent booked me one day to short. As I tried to so solve this on the reception, the only answer I got was: We don't care! Go some where... more

I have read the reviews of the hotel and understand the view that it is a budget hotel. My experience was however coloured by the fact that we were intent on having a nice room and paid to have a double room with en suite - double the price of a standard room. First impressions were not good. We were... more

I stayed here in Dec. of '05. I took a cab to & from the airport, which cost about $50 1-way. The hotel was in a great location. Wonderful pubs, coffee shops, hip stores. A short walk away was a fun "oompa loompa" band. I went twice. Nice walk along the river down to the train station. When I was... more

The whole theme of the hotel is pretty cute: walls bedecked with rockstar memorabilia, and rooms named after rock singers/groups. The nightclub in the hotel is great and can get pretty crowded during the weekends by both tourists and locals. Location is fantastic, exactly in the middle of the fascinating old-town, close to all the restaurants, bars, and nightclubs. The... more

Most of the other reviews have captured the essence of this hotel. It's in the middle of the old town close to lots of the bars and cafes, it's a three minute walk to the station and with the Swiss transport system you can get to pretty much anywhere from there. If you're looking for a luxury hotel don't come... more

I must say I am surprised to read some of the reviews of the Zic Zac below. I chanced upon this hotel in 1998, was delighted to find somewhere so (comparatively) cheap in Zürich, and have made it my base there three or four times since. Switzerland is a very expensive place for most non-Swiss, so finding a place like... more
