After long looking for an affordable design hotel in Zürich we ended up in Greulich hotel. It was a very good decision: nice rooms, nice design, friendly service, good bar.... You either love modern design, or hate it ... there's not much in between. I don't mean contemporary, but Modern. I will take what some call sterile over anything retro or antique, as the later always translate into unsleepable beds, overly ornate heavy drapes, and ridiculously decorated bathrooms. The Greulich is supposed to be the best design hotel in Zurich, but as we discovered there is something uncomfortable about too much design. My partner and I stayed in a junior suite for two nights for 360 CHF per night. These suites were bi-level with a small lounge area and desk at a higher level than the bed and bathroom. Location Zurich 4 is not exactly the centre of Zurich, however, one can easily take the bus, the tram (number 8) or a taxi into town. Do you want to know what its like to live in a minimalist home but no guts to do it? Form follows function at this work of art ...
