“Not my favorite place”

The Hotel Amstel is a wonderful hotel if you old and stately. The service was exceptional and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. That said, the hotel is old with old everything (except electronics)! The wood is chipped, some the fixtures didn't work and the floor squeaks. But it is stately and magnificent to look at. I was taken to Amsterdam for valentines weekend and stayed in the Intercontinental hotel. The lobby is very impressive and the staff very polite. What an excellent hotel - friendly reception , rooms clean n lovely - breakfast brilliant - location of hotel not at all far from anything - service all round was excellent could not fault it would highly recommend :)

“superb gem of a hotel, horrible reception associates”

great hotel/wonderful rooms/great location/but snooty receptionists,unhelpful , rude and dismissive. it is like having a great meal with dirty silverware, or driving a new Ferrari with non-functioning breaks.

“Truly a 5* Hotel”

I am currently staying at the hotel on my first of 2 nights stay in Amsterdam. I have to say that the quality of service at this hotel is amongst the best I have received. The decor within the room is stunning, and the hotel has real character. Will definitely return to the Amstel when I return to Amsterdam.

This is a special InterContinental and much better than the rest - not just the physical property which the group is lucky to enjoy but also the management. Very good and flawless. We thoroughly enjoyed the location, concierge and staff interaction. Pity we were not here longer.
