Be carefull booking a room here. Don't trust the single room pictures on the internet. For about 60 Euro you can have a VERY small single room (no table, no space to walk, just a bed) and the noise is incredable all night long because its in the middle of the red-light district and bar area. People will sit and... more
I have to start the review by saying that the Hotel Vijaya is not the perfect cosy, plush, hidden gem some of you might be looking for. If luxury is at the top of your list then look elsewhere. However if you are looking to enjoy Amsterdam and want a centrally located room to sleep then the Vijaya fits the... more
We have stayed in numerous hotels in the Dam but since coming accross Hotel Vijaya we have not, and will not, stay anywhere else. Ok so its not the Ritz but for a clean budget hotel in the heart of the Red Light District you cannot ask for anything else! The hotel is only a 5 minute walk from the... more
I'll start this off by just saying that I've used a lot of hotels over the years I've been going to Amsterdam, and this has consistently been the best - probably why I keep going back there. After catching the train and walking to the hotel, whilst getting slightly lost along the way, Hotel Vijaya actually seemed pretty nice. However, the stairs are very steep and narrow and it seemed easier to... more
Hotel Vijaya is situated in Amsterdam near the red light district, over the road from Hotel Crown, above some livley bars too and is also an indian resturant. We booked the hotel when we got into Amsterdam...after finding out other prices of hotels nearby! Me and my boyfriend got the room for two nights (Sat&Sun) for 190 Euros which included... more
Friendly clean cheap smoker friendly hotel. Don't stay there if your a yank wanting out of this world service (good luck finding 'service' full stop in Amsterdam!). But if you are looking for a cheap clean central location, this is your stop. I had a lovley window that opened onto the canal and madness below, best smoking spot in town!... more
First impression was OMG!!!! JEEPERS CREEPERS!!!! and the smell - not cat like as previously mentioned - it just smells old and damp. Very noisy location with a bar/club underneath my room window. If you have any sort of mobility probs forget this place as its like living in a wonky ship - its all steep staircases and feels like... more
Descent Hotel. Great location! Right in the red light district. Breakfast was good. I liked how it was on until 10 am. Staff was friendly . Beds were comfortable. Only strange thing was that we came back to the hotel after a long day and found my underwear and my friends on the floor. That we were sure we did... more
