Ok, we go to Amsterdam at least twice a year, however this was the first time ever visiting on a driving trip. If u are flying in to shcipol and looking for a cheap place without parking this may not be the place. But if u have a car in tow in 1 of the world's most car unfreindly cities... more
Stayed 1 night. The hotel is basically a truck stop situated near the Amsterdam motorway system. The rooms are very basic and not all that clean. They face onto outside walkways as per US budget motel chains. There is an attached restaurant serving nice but limited and basic food (steak and chips, lasagne etc). At night some local tired looking... more
We enjoyed our stay at the Campanile just fine. It's on the edge of a gorgeous park, which was a nice peaceful place to walk around and relax a bit. We'd stay there again, especially if we had a car and wanted to stay on the outskirts of Amsterdam and take the metro in. Just make sure to plan to... more
This hotel was a big disappointment for us, nothing what we expected. Hotel website and pictures are very misleading. My husband and I booked this hotel for 3 nights, but upon arrival, I did not want to even check in, but, I had already confirmed with my credit card and would be charged anyway for the first night, so we... more
Perfect location: near to the highway, subway, the city etc. Simple, extremely thin-walled but clean rooms. Reception gave us the wrong information about 48 public transportation card, a ticket strip would have been much cheaper! They blamed public transportation, took no responsibility! Breakfast: staff squeeze fresh orangejuice just for the show: the jugs for the guests are filled from a... more
3 of us stayed in this hotel for a long weekend in Amsterdam. When we arrived we were greeted by very friendly daytime staff. The rooms in the place are extremely small. All the rooms are built for 2 people even then you would be short of space. As there were 3 of us the shoved another camper bed into... more
We stayed at the Campanile for 2 nights as part of a budget European tour. The Campanile was the most expensive hotel on our tour but it wasnt the best. The rooms are clean but small. Tea and coffee making facilites are included, breakfast was extra on top of our rate (we didnt bother, we eat breakfast in Amsterdam) the... more
My 3 friends & I booked the Campanile via the web in October. The pictures were an accurate representation of the hotel, which we found to be charming, if basic! The rooms were clean & comfortable w/ a large, tiled bathrrom (with a heater!) including a bath tub & shower. Our 3rd flr. rooms had shiny, wooden floors, & a... more
We stayed at the Campanile to visit the U2 concert at Amsterdam Arena. The Campanile is right next to metro station Gaasperplas. The metro takes you to Centraal Station in about 20 mins., a bus goes directly to Biljmerstation/A'dam Arena (ca. 15 min). Unfortunately rooms are _very_ small. Its mainly a bed and nothing else. So if you are only... more
