I picked this hotel based on price, location, and previous reviews. It's certainly no frills- two single beds, very basic. The staff, however, were the kindest people we met in all of Amsterdam. Very friendly- serving breakfast to all guests each morning. If it had not been for their warmth and hospitality, I probably would be fine never returning to... more

We ended up staying at the Hotel Van Onna because we were booking pretty late and it was June, so there weren't many choices for inexpensive accommodations in the central city. The staff was very nice and courteous, but quite frankly the room was depressing. The bathroom was tiny and really poorly designed (example: the hook for the towel was... more

This hotel is in Jordaan, about a ten minute walk from the red light district. Good basic place to stay. Very reasonable rates. Room was bare bones, but clean and functional. Staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was not a buffet and a bit sparse, but OK. No intenert connection on the premises. Closest connection is a cafe several blocks... more

We stayed at Van Onna for 3 nights in Sep/09. There was an event in Amsterdam during the period of our stay, so it was really hard to find an avaiable room in the city. We booked the van onna knowing that it was a budget hotel, so be prepared for that... - The location is great, in a beautiful... more

My 11 year old son and I stayed here based on LP recommendation. Jordaan is definitely one of the best locations in Amsterdam, far from the crowds and traffic and only a short walk from the mainstream tourist parts of the city. Being just around the corner from Anne Frank Huis meant we could avoid the long queues here and... more

Basic, budget stay. Austere room, but clean. If you cannot climb many flights of stairs, do not consider this hotel. Bring your own shampoo. Breakfast was pleasant. Located in a peaceful, lovely neighborhood. Sometimes a front desk attendant was difficult to find. more

My wife and I stayed at Hotel Van Onna for 3 nights. Hotel Van Onna is a modest hotel along a canal in Amsterdam. Upon arrival we were greeted by the friendly owner and directed to our room, which was on the top (4th) floor of the main building. The room was beautiful with views in almost all directions, however... more

Only hotel in a decent price range when I booked due to large festival in Amsterdam. Small but clean room with bathroom down the hall. Great location, easy to get to by tram from train station. Very close to Anne Frank Museum, in pleasant quiet neighborhood. Great breakfast included in price. Excellent value for the price. I would stay again... more

The Hotel can Onna is a very basic hotel. I went with my wife recently and got given a twin bed, in a small room with a bathroom. Location: The hotel is on a street with the canal passing by the front, and is quiet. There is a few bars and restaurants nearby within 2-3 minutes walk. Anne Frank museum... more

My husband and I have been to Amsterdam many times and this is the first and very last time at the Hotel van Onna. From now on I promise faithfully that never again will I ignore the majority review of any hotel on Trip Advisor. Lots of reviewers said Basic and I can only ask myself what part of Basic... more
