Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

When I asked the receptionist to book a taxi to the airport, I intended a regular taxi. However she told me "Ah, here is our hotel driver. He will take you." This I assumed was a hotel service for guests which was offered complimentarily. When we arrived at the airport I was shocked to be asked for €50! I thought it was free but €50?? The same journey with booking.com costs €42, Uber costs €38, a regular taxi costs € 40. I am very dissatisfied with the hotel. This is not professional behaviour.

Put in a bad room to start off, damp on walls and damp smell throughout, towels also smelt damp. Unclean floors. Raised issue with staff and were moved to a better room, staff went out of their way to help out and ensure that our stay was improved.

After reading some bad reviews me and my partner decided to bite the bullet and book the penthouse suite with the grand hotel downtown. We were not disappointed! The hotel is located about 15/20 minutes walk from all of the popular spots in Amsterdam. The most amazing thing about this hotel is the staff. They were so helpful and always greeted and welcomed us as we entered and exited the hotel. Couldn’t have done more! (Even gave me a rose for Valentine’s Day :)) Massive thank you to the staff! Breakfast was superb! My partner is a really fussy eater so we were sceptical about the breakfast. Food was well cooked and had loads to choose from; cooked breakfast, continental, cereal and toast/pastries. I would recommend getting to breakfast earlier than later as the food went colder towards the end of the breakfast slot. The room was as clean as we expected, bedding was pristine and towels were changed daily! If I was to be super picky I did pick up on how the floor in the room was dirty, felt sticky in some places but we used the slippers provided. Would definitely stay here again and recommend!

One of, if not the nicest hotels I have ever stayed in. The room was beautiful, clean and spacious. Room included fridge, very helpful for the alcohol😉. The shower was very nice. The hotel is in a very good area with a new york pizza and an Albert Heijn very close by. Would reccomend and would definitely stay again.

For the price we paid the rooms were very small. Clean but bad Wifi. Breakfast room was a bit dirty. The hotel has a very small lobby and through a courtyeard you go to your room. If your exypactations aren’t that high the hotel Is ok. Metro is nearby.

Lovely Hotel, Friendly Staff & Central to Most Liked · We stayed in room 602, and it was an amazing experience, from the Large bath, to the walk in shower. The super king bed was so comfy and the balcony had an amazing view over the canal & urban area as well as seating for a morning coffee. The room was clean, fresh & modern. The hotel was very close to anything you would need, a 10-15 min walk along the canal takes you into the centre. The receptionist who met us when we checked-in was so lovely and couldn't of been anymore helpful, we had the opportunity to thank her before we checked-out, she's a credit to the team! Disliked · The only negative was that the double glass doors to go into the courtyard never registered/opened using the key card so you had to go through reception but again wasn't anything major, just a couple of steps down, however if you had a buggy etc, reception would come and help. The hotel is situated within other residential blocks but never bothered us or worried us as the hotel has dedicated floors.

First time in Amsterdam so not sure what other hotels are like in comparison to this, however I have stayed at multiple 4/5 star hotels elsewhere and this didn’t live up to my standards. The room was dirty, behind the door was absolute filth. Bathroom and whole bedroom smelt of sewage. There was vape pen behind one of the curtains, the floor was very dirty. The furniture was damaged and marked. The room was absolutely freezing, bed was hard and pillows were so small. The towels provided were small and more like hand towels. Windows needed a good clean, could hardly see out of them. I walked into the room and first thing I thought was ‘wow this needs a good clean’ The whole hotel has a weird a vibe, feels like old refurbished offices or something. However The staff was friendly so that’s a positive.

I was a little worried about my stay after reading some of the reviews. we choose a penthouse room for the balcony. the room was comfortable, spacious well equipped (smart tv, tea and coffee machine, iron and iron board, fridge), the room was clean and when we requested a service it was no issue. Location is great, lots of great restaurants bars etc. nearby. Staff were pleasant and always helpful. Yes the rooms have a separate entrance to the reception and bar but this required a 10 second walk through a covered atrium! Highly recommend

Overal the home was clean, but the walls are very thin. Can easily hear alarms and other people’s conversations through the walls. Location is perfect quick walk into town. Staff at reception are friendly, and will book you a taxi to the airport.
