Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.

My current stay at the NH Museum Quarter has been far from ideal, despite paying premium rates in high season for a purported 4-star hotel, as it fails to even meet basic expectations like Room Cleaning. Despite being charged for housekeeping as part of the per-night room rate, this hotel appears to neglect these services. As a frequent traveller, I've stayed in a few hundred hotels, with 2023 alone encompassing over 50 hotels in more than 20 countries. What transpired today is unprecedented, even in hotels with much lower ratings. I left my room around 3 p.m., placing the "clean my room" sign on the door. Typically, I inform the reception before leaving to facilitate room cleaning since they know the room is unoccupied. In my haste, I forgot to do so but remembered a few minutes later. I promptly called the reception (refer to the attached call log screenshot), and they assured me that the room would be cleaned. To my surprise, upon returning at 10:30 pm, a full 7 hours later, I discovered the "clean my room" sign untouched, and the room remained uncleaned (refer to the attached photos). Despite informing the reception, the apology I received was lacklustre, accompanied by a subtle message of "accept it" and "deal with it," with no visible effort to rectify the situation. There is no drainage on the bathroom floors, and thanks to this, the bathroom will remain perpetually wet without housekeeping. While I acknowledge that such things can happen, the callousness displayed in handling such situations at a hotel which is charging so much (approximately 160-200 Euros per day) is unacceptable. It's worth mentioning here that NH Museum Quarter is one of those opportunistic hotels that seeks to capitalize on the most trivial matters. For instance, borrowing a hotel umbrella for the ever frequent Amsterdam rains costs 3 euros—a practice unheard of in other hotel brands. Since they claim to be a "4-star establishment" and charge premium rates, it's imperative that there is some accountability here. Guests deserve better quality of service. My hope is that this review serves as a wake-up call for improvement and warns any potential travellers about what they are paying for.

Beautiful old charm hotel with a fantastic view of the canal.the breakfast was okay not much of a variety to choose from.the rooms were lovely. It has a cute little terrace behind the bar where one can relax. A very big thank you to Olena who took the time to explain all the markets and the attractions nearby and further away from the hotel when we checked in And Sergio who helped us go to Chinatown with precise and very accurate directions. The staff at the breakfast area and the bar tender are lovely. There is a metro and tramp stop within a couple of feet from the hotel which is helpful when traveling with a child. Overall we had a lovely stay at the hotel.

The bed was not very comfortable, could feel the springs. But the breakfast and staff were excellent. The hotel itself was close to the museums, and within walking distance. Was a quiet neighborhood, reasonably priced.

Great hotel in the museum quarter area of Amsterdam. The room itself was clean and spacious, with great bed, bathroom, and storage. Everything I needed was within walking distance of the hotel - including train stations, and the main parts of Amsterdam you would want to visit as a tourist.

We had stayed previously at this hotel as a couple, but not for some years. We always enjoyed it, and so it was a natural choice to take our family (9 of us) for a pre-Christmas break to Amsterdam, one of our favourite cities. We paid extra for the superior rooms with floor to ceiling view on the 6th floor and we crossed our fingers that the place was still good - we needn't have worried. The location is peaceful and safe, and it's now a five minute walk to the trams (previously two minute, but the local authority has closed the nearest tramline), but once at the tram stop you're within a ten minute ride of the city centre. The only reason this review isn't five stars, is that the hotel is about to be subject to a major refurb, and in some places there were signs of tiredness (especially in bathrooms), but everything was spotlessly clean, and the staff were very welcoming and friendly. Breakfast was excellent, good choice and quality and there wasn't a single issue. The bar area was quiet, but bar manager Adem worked hard to make everyone feel at home and nothing was too much trouble. We all loved it, and are already planning a return journey (hopefully with drier weather next time!)

Where to start… saying “thank you”?? I guess (not!). So.. Thank you Jeffrey, the duty manager, with memoriale odor of sweat, for: - ensuring that we are not laying about dirty towel, or broken shower hose, broken lights and coming into our room to check that indeed nothing is functioning; -educating us that we should not be complaining because we haven’t paid for the room yet ( please, disregard your colleague’s advice that we can pay at the check out as the credit card information is available); - after paying for the room €225 per night ( the room 414 with the stain on the carpet, tiered curtains, dirty towel, broken shower, mold on the ceiling, broken lights) offering us a complimentary breakfast ( assumingly in attempt to add on the -5***** treatment by NH staff); -but most of all, THANK YOU, Jeffrey, for teaching us a LESSON NEVER TO STAY in NH hotel again!!! Compliments to NH hotel chain for training your staff to deliver “outstanding “ customer service!!

So very happy we stayed here and it was certainly worth the little extra for the Queen Room with a view. Our room had plenty of space with views over the canal making the perfect spot for 5 nights. A quiet location but close to transport and plenty of options for eating just a short walking distance. Even the market was just a 5-minute walk. Plus the musuems are all within walking distance. We loved being able to easily use the public transport nearby to travel into the city while being able to return to enjoy the quieter neighbourhood. Room and hotel had all we needed and would highly recommend - rooms may be in need of some minor upgrading but it certainly didn't impact our stay.
