Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Me and my Husband stay here for a romantic weekend away, this was my first time visiting Amsterdam and found the place to be beautiful. we brought the I am Amsterdam card and find it easy to travel around Amsterdam, we visited the Zoo and the market and walk around the city very easy. the Hotel was Jordaan and very close to Ann Franks house. the owner of the Hotel were very welcoming and helpful with information about the city. would definitely recommend to Family and Friends.

Accommodation in Amsterdam (particularly near the centre) all seem to be really expensive. I found this place and thought it seemed reasonable particularly for the location. The room was quite basic but it had everything I needed for a short stay but the real winning point is the location. Walking distance to Amsterdam's main attractions and the tram system meant everywhere was easily accessible. Would recommend this place.

Trying to find a decent hostel/hostel that is central and doesn't cost loads in Amsterdam is a lot harder than in other European cities so we were very happy when we found Hotel Pax. The hotel is in a great location - 10 mins from the station, 5 mins from dam square/the red light district and 5 mins from Ann Frank's house. We had a twin room with private toilet ad shower and we were pleasantly surprised - especially with the room size. The only complaint I do have is about the wifi - it worked for about ten minutes in the whole time we were there. This might not be an issue for some but as we'd been travelling for quite a few weeks it was very frustrating trying to contact people and to plan things without it. Also, there are a lot of narrow stairs in this hotel, so if you struggle with getting up and down stairs this is probably not the best hotel for you - however this is very common in hotels in Amsterdam because of the style of the buildings. A good hotel if you're on a budget and want to stay central but still somewhere comfortable.

I stayed at Hotel Pax for 3 nights in the standard single room. The location is absolutely ideal! it's a 2 minute walk to Dam Square..so really it couldn't get more central than that! My room was at the back of the hotel so it was quiet, but the stairs was just outside my room so there is some noise when people are going up or down the stairs. The room is basic but it's fine for a short and budget stay. The only fault with the room is that I found the lighting was very dim. The fridge is useful to have. but has a slight noise from it. The guys on the reception desk were lovely, couldn't be more helpful. And yes, i will mention the stairs as well as other reviewers, they are very very very steep. I would stay here again.

This hotel is in a perfect location; 5 min walk to Dam Square and 2-3 min walk to the Anne Frank house. It was cheap, with our last minute booking, and was clean. We shared a bathroom and toilet with other people on our floor, which was fine. They are clean and in working order. The beds are very comfy and we had a sink in our room, which was handy. Overall, if you want a hotel with a great location and a comfy bed at a cheap price - you can't go wrong. If you are looking for any kind of luxury, up your budget! Would definitely recommend staying here if cheap, clean and comfy is what you're after. P.s - lots of stairs.

Brilliant location...close to central station and trams 13 and 17 stop nearby and near Anne Franks House, bars, restaurants. Once in my room, it was really quiet. The only outside noise was the church clock bells. I was a bit worried about being next to the staircase, but it's not a huge hotel so although I was woken by people coming back and talking loudly each night, it was only once or twice. You will hear the stairs creak so earplugs would be useful if this bothers you. My room had a fridge, kettle, tv, sink, wardrobe, chair and shelf/ table in addition to the obvious bed. Plenty of lights and power sockets. Bed was a little soft but I found it comfortable. There were sheets ans blankets rather than a duvet but the central heating kept the room warm. Towels are provided. I shared the shower and toilet. These were in separate rooms and I didn't have to queue. Whichever room you are in, there are steep stairs so this isn't ideal if you have lots of luggage or health problems! I would definitely stay again.

me and two friends were heading to Amsterdam for the weekend. We wanted the supposedly impossible.. Central, but cheap yet not a dump. We were very glad we found hotel pax on trip advisor. The location is fantastic and the price is fantastic value. We arrived after a short walk from the train station and climbed its steep stairs. We were met by Phillip, a very pleasant and friendly guy (like all the Dutch. The friendliest nation I've ever visited, anyway) given the keys to our room that was shared between 3 of us. Quite basic, but warm, nice, clean and spacious. Ideally this hotel is for people either travelling or who just want to set up for a short weekend whilst they stay busy in town. It's not luxury, but it's not meant to be. We plan to come back to Amsterdam and we will definitely stay here again.
