This is a simple hotel - the rooms are fairly large and the entire place is very clean. The staff is friendly and you get to meet others staying at the hotel during the breakfast (which is nothing special -- just nice). Good location and that is really the only postive attritube that can be attached to this hotel. Frst the stairs are very difficult to climb regardless of age, the room was small, badly designed, poorly ventilated and smelled of what apperared to be dampness, the room was cleaned regularly and coffee and tea refilled and the towells were changed also.... more

Overall, the hotel was fine. We stayed there for 4 nights. It is in a good, central location for walking to most of the major attractions within 10 to 20 minutes. Amsterdam is one of my favorite cities, but this is probably my least favorite hotels I've ever stayed in. The spiral staircase with narrow steps make it dangerous to even get your luggage up to your room, the staff seems ambivalent, and I had numerous emails to reconfirm the rate which was originally promised to me. Found this hotel through bearwww.com. It has a great location near shops and stores and restaurants, easy walk to museums, red light etc. Staff friendly, rooms clean. stairs very steep! Would defiinitely stay there again more
