Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This hotel is very in the center of Amsterdam, very convenient for one night and maybe if you are planning to sleep there totally drunk or complitly wasted. The bed sheet was simply not cleaned after previous guests, that was very first experience of dirty bed in Europe.

Our stay at this hotel was the worst I have ever experienced!!!!!! On arrival we first noticed the unbearable heat and stuffiness within our rooms, however non of the windows could be opened so we had to put up with it. After freshening up in the shower the bathroom soon became full of steam (despite a Luke warm shower at best!) to the point where water was running off the tiles and mirror. The bedroom then became even hotter the floor was soaking wet the bed linen was damp the windows where dripping with condensation it was unbearable!! To try and get relief we opened the door, but as building work took place all hours through the day the noise of hammering, drilling and banging was probably worse!!! The room was basic to say the least no mirror in the room, the double bed was two uncomfortable singles shoved together, the TV had wires hanging all over the place which of course didn't work and there was no hairdryer. When I asked at reception if there was a hairdryer I could use as I was unable to bring one in my handluggage I was just simply told 'no'. That night we ventured out for some food and drinks late into the evening, on arrival back to the hotel it was locked, which wasn't a problem as it was so late however we had to hammer and bang on the doors and windows before anyone bothered to let us in! The following morning we were woken by the sound of drilling and staff shouting to each other from the length of the hotel, I also discovered that I had been bitten from head to toe by something in the night!!! When we enquired about breakfast we were told it was not being served yet! All in all the experience was dreadful the staff were the most unhelpful and inconsiderate I have ever come across, the rooms were unbearable to be in and as for facilities, there weren't any!! We booked the hotel as it was slightly cheaper than the rest however we would have gladly paid the extra to have actually had an enjoyable and relaxing break! My advice......don not stay at this hotel spend the extra few pounds to avoid complete dissapointment!

There are two reasons to choose this hotel: relatively low price comparing to other centrally located hotels and location in walking distance from the main station. This hotel is very old and needs renovation long ago. Tiny dark rooms with very basic comfort, practically, only beds. Cheap bed linen and grey towels. Thick windows and bad heating system. Poor breakfast. Looks more like a hostel. Very hard to get relaxed after long exploring of the city.

Stayed here from 30th December 2013 until 2nd January 2014 and it was perfect for us, stayed with 3 friends in a basement room, a few of the plug sockets werent working which was a downside but the beds were clean, fresh towels and sheets each day, didnt sample the breakfast so no comment on that but all in all a good stay, would definitely stay here again, cheap and cheerful and very close to the city center and train station :) happy customers !!!

The location of the hotel is very good but the room was very dirty and outdated. The electric sockets were all broken and the heating was not working. There was a gap below the windows so cold air was flowing into the room.

the hotel locatiion is very strategic ie less than 10 minutes walking distance to city centre & nearby to shopping mall & public transportaion. The bus just infront of the hotel. we took the train from Sciphol airport to city centre station than walked to the hotel. The hotel also allowed us to put our baggage at the lobby while walting for our check in time. the reception staff is also nice. Infact they allowed us to use their printer to print our daily pass travelling which we make booking from the internet. we can only access the internet at hotel lobby. the reception from room is not so good. The hotel provided simple breakfast which are bread, ham, cheese, boil egg, coffee, tea and juice. However, the food is good enough to cover our morning meals. the room is small and has very limited space. There are 4 single beds and 1 make up table and smaall wardrop. the fittings in the room is quite ages. the shower in the toilet also not in a good condition. the floor cannot cover the water flow when we shower. as a results, the water overflow on the floor whenever we shower.

Location is excellent, less than 10 mins walk to the Centraal Station but it feels eerie. It didn't help that the front desk people were not personable and unhelpful and the middle age guy managing at night is very abrupt and rude! I've travelled in South America, Northern America, SE Asia, and Europe and have stayed in back packer hostels, bed and breakfasts, apartment hotels, 2-4 start hotels, luxury resorts and this was the first time I've experienced bad service and accommodation. I understand it Is a budget hotel but please save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else!

I stayed for 2 nights. The room with private toilett, was clean and had a nice view (3 floor). The bed was very confortable. The breakfast was a buffet, it means you can eat as much as you wanted but didn't have much variety. Good value for the room.

I was told i had wifi and a river view, but on arrival i was shocked to find i was sleeping in a basement of a shabby old hotel, with no wifi. I had to pay a £105 reserve for the room and when i arrived i was told i had to pay a further £280 for the booking, i have still not received the reserve back and this has caused me alot of financial problems as i ended up having to fork out the extra money, overall very dissapointed. I awoke expecting a feast to start my day to, but there was bread...and cheese... (ps. mouldy walls and ceiling)

Love the hotel. The location is amazing, I could see Conservatorium van Amsterdam from my window room. The staffs are nice, the breakfast is good and yummy. I enjoyed my staying very much. But something's wrong with my bathroom sink. There was this horrible smell from it that we could not get rid of.
