We stayed at Hotel Carillon for two days and that was plenty. The rooms were worn and moldy. The steps were very steep. But the staff and breakfast were ok. After 6 Trips to eight countries in Europe, I would say this was the worst Hotel we have had in Europe. more

The hotel is placed in the central square of the city, a very beautiful location. All the places of interest of the city are easily reachable by foot from there, and besides Haarlem is a great base for many beautiful excursons through Holland and particularly to Amsterdam. We stayed in the Hotel Carillon from April 25-28, 2005. It was our first visit to Haarlem, so I can’t directly compare this hotel to other hotels in the area. The Carillon is so named because of St. Bavo's catherdral across the street. The bells ring periodically during the day, then from 9-9:30 in the evening.
