I've been trying to stay at Stempels for my regular trips to Haarlem and at last succeeded. The good things - excellent position; large spacious bedroom with chandelier; probably the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in; computer & free internet connection in room; very wide selection for breakfast; lovely church bells playing tunes outside my window - not intrusive... more

The hotel is situated in a nice building but the smells of the kitchen and noise of the church bells spoils what would have been an otherwise nice stay> staff not really trying or accommodating they seem to be busy with running the restaurant and the hotel is something they do on the side more

AVOID AT ALL COSTS! We recently booked this hotel for a vacation and needed to cancel the reservation due to a passport problem. Nice hotel in a beautiful old building. Room also fine, spacious bathrom (only shower, no bath tub!), comfortable bad... Balcony overlooking the church, and main square... But ... staff is just doing their job (without a smile) and nothing more. No room service, very poor breakfast, great orange juice though. more

Excellent hotel. Enjoyed our stay. Room was nicely decorated, clean and very tidy. We arrived early and they let us check right in. Loved hearing the churchbells. We were right above the kitchen and we didn't smell anything (as opposed to another poster). If we ever find ourselves in Haarlem again, we will be staying here. Very nice.. more

Pretty new hotel - only been around about a year but the actual building was built around 1600s. Great hotel for the money. The staff are ver knowledgeable & accommodating, especially for some of us Americans that are needy like my husband and I. Great location. But, you will hear the church bells everyday, which I have no problems with.... more
