The room was beautifully appointed, furnished, and decorated. Large comfortable bed. Large bathroom with very unusual big corner bath. No complaints about any of that at all. Good location.
However, the marble-floored foyer/lobby area is best described as dangerous. Upon entering the hotel I missed the last step down (marble steps are the same colour as the floor) and was propelled forwards. Worse, later, coming downstairs from the room to complain that the key would not lock the bedroom door (because the door did not fit the door-frame cleanly), I found the reception unmanned and unlit. I missed the bottom marble step and was sent crashing to the floor, landing hard on both knees and outstretched hands. There were no staff on duty to help me, at about 8.30pm.
This meant that I could not run in the next day's Rotterdam Marathon, which was the purpose of the visit.
