We stayed there for three nights and loved the idiosyncratic nature of the place.. The enormous room in the attic would normally be seen as an apartment and could easily accommodate four people in the two rooms, with a kitchen and two bathrooms. The decor is faded grandeur - for instance some of the tiles are chipped, so dont expect... More

We had a weekend in Ghent for my partner's birthday, and were delighted to find this B&B. For those who want aregular hotel experience - same rooms, impersonal service, bland interiors - this isn't the place; for those who want something different - a marvellous room (we did stay in the attic room, admittedly the most expensive - but still... I have stayed at La Maison de Claudine many times over the past 4 years. I was working in the city and needed a place to stay for 2-6 weeks at a time. Claudine and Arthur were very helpful in arranging the stays and the accommodation is amazing. One of the rooms is the top floor of the house with... More

Our group of six had a fantastic stay in Gent over the UK bank holiday weekend. Maison Claudine is located right in the heart of the city but in a very quiet spot. It's charm and character, and our friendly host Arthur, helped to make for a very enjoyable short stay in this under-rated city. Well worth a visit!

I stayed at this wonderful B&B for 10 days in June, 2006. Madame Claudine was a wonderful hostess and attended to all requests. The top floor suite is amazingly large with a second bedroom and bathroom attached to the main bedroom/sitting/dining room. The suite is full of historic hand-hewn rafters and large windows. There are a bit of stairs to... More

We stayed in this hotel for a weekend over. On the website is looks quite charming but it was a little disapointing wen we got there. We stayed at the room on the middle floor with a view on the garden. The costs where 70 euro per day. The room was a bit schabby and the garden was a mess.... More

Ghent is known for having a great selection of bed & breakfasts and guests houses, and most of them are very well priced and charming. It was hard therefore to choose one, but La Maison de Claudine deserves certainly special mention. Build as a 17th century cloister and former home to the famous writer Hugo Claus, this very charming B&B... More

Claudine Bovyn's bed and breakfast is a large old cloister house tucked away on a little alley near a spectacular cathedral. The location is excellent: right in the heart of Ghent, near several tram stops and just down the street from great shopping and peaceful cafes. It's a busy area, but the house itself is quiet and retreat-like.Madame Claudine is... More
