We booked Des Markies because of the location, its 3 star rating and the high price of staying in Brugge. I was expecting it to be a bit more minimal/budget than places we usually stay, but this was beyond budget. The carpet in the hallways were peeling from the walls, the sparcely furnished room, though fairly clean, seemed run down... more

Went to Brugge for a 3 day break via Dover Dunkirk ferry. Very easy to get to Brugge and found the underground car park straight away (E8.70 per day), just followed the centrum sign posts once in Brugge. Found the receptionist to be very helpful, spoke perfect english and gave us a printed out map with some destinations, when we... more

I completely chanced upon this hotel as I sat in front of it sipping a welcome drink after a long mornings walking around some of the beautiful parks and paths of Bruges. What a gem of a place to find. Other reviews seem to complain about noise but I certainly didnt hear any on the second floor. What I did... more

Before booking the hotel i read lots of reviews complaining of excessive noise from nearby buildings. We were in one of the rooms closest to the bar next door and, with the window closed, the noise level was alright. This said, with the windows open the noise level was considerable and sleeping could be difficult. We also found that our... more

We stayed in the hotel on a Saterday night and we had a room at the front side. We have not slept at all because of the terrible noise until 5am from the pubs next to the hotel, loud music the whole night. Maybe a room at the back side is better but we were not informed until the morning... more

The perfect budget hotel with easy access from the train station. The room was very clean and comfortable, and the breakfast room on the top floor was well managed and a delight to be in. Despite the fair being outside the hotel, we heard nothing from our room at the back of the hotel, and would definitely stay again. more

We have visited here before (twice before), and can honestly say, it hasn't changed a bit. The owners had changed and redecorated the hotel, but they were as friendly and helpful as before. Our last visit being nearly six years ago. Would certainly recommend and should we go again would look to book here first. more

Stayed here for 2 nights in May, unfortunately at the same time as a fair which was set up in the square outside. There was also quite loud music coming from the bars below the hotel BUT we found that we were so tired after walking round the sites of Bruges all day (and perhaps a little tipsy after sampling... more

Had to agree with the other comments probably not the hotel's fault but we had the same problem of noise. We had teenagers outside the hotel until 5.30 in the morning on motorbikes, and on the last morning we stayed they were moving furniture in the bar below at 4.30 in the morning, not the best start to a return... more

The hotel is nice if you're looking for something in the 75€ range. I would say it is a tad expensive, but hey! It is Brugge! The location is great. You are next to the center and 30 meters from the turist information office that is now in t' Zand and not Burg as it used to. The bathroom is... more
