This was one of the best trips I have ever had. My boyfriend and I stayed overnight here at the weekend. We were lucky enough to get the 'officers cabin' which had lovely views over the canal and a very comfy bed. All the staff were helpful and welcoming. The breads at breakfast was delicious. The dinner we had was... more

My husband and I (along with another middle-aged couple) spent 3 nights at this wonderful facility. We chose it based on its location - a short walk from the train station and Bruges's town center. The hotel is not really a hotel in the sense that most Americans would envision. De Barge is not a large, sterile, corporate-run glass and... more

Stayed here for 3 nights (3 for 2 deal) mid-week and have nothing but praise for De Barge. The hotel is not in Bruges itself, but a leisurely stroll through 'lovers park' gets you there in minutes. Top Tip: When leaving the train station, do not cross the main road, but turn right before the pedestrian lights, continue to follow... more

Booked with Eurostar, as we wanted to use it for a trip, Bruges was recommended as the best destination in Belgium, so all that was left was to choose an Hotel. BoatHotel de Barge was way down the list, but a barge is more interesting than a building... reviews said ok, but with faults, the 3 for 2 day deal... more

Having booked a short holiday to Bruges two weeks before, we thought we should give it a go. Reasonably priced and seemingly nice. We weren't wrong! The staff were ever so friendly and helpful, concerned about our stay and comfort. The room, despite being a bit small, was very decent and nicely decotared with maritime motifs. I suppose that, this... more

We spent three very enjoyable nights at Hotel de Barge and would highly recommend it to others. THe peaceful position by the water was a highlight of our stay at Bruges and we would stay there again without hesitation. Rooms were small but very comfortable with all amenities and a great view over the canal. We saw rabbits playing on... more

Our second one-night stay at De Barge. The last one was in Aug 2007. It's great value-for-money (only E99/room). The location is good being only 10mins walk from the railway station and 15-20mins to Markt (5 mins. to Minnewater). As previous reviewer suggested ask for upper-deck 'cabin' ovelooking the canal. Rooms are comfortable, clean and bathrooms more than adequate. It's... more

Reading the reviews on tripadvisor I am wondering if I stayed at the same hotel. Our experience was of a youth hostel than of a hotel that charges €130 per night. There were four of us in the party and both of our rooms had old worn out furniture and fittings. The rooms (33 and 34) were small and narrow... more

Stayed in this converted barge for a long weekend with my fiancée from Fri 7th to Mon 10th September. Staff spoke excellent English and our room was ready for us when we arrived, even though it was at midday and check in is not supposed to be until 2. The room (no. 20) was lovely; a large airy room with... more
