This place was definately amazing, it is a real castle though so you much appreciate that and expect it to have some shortcomings on the hotel front. That said we had a great time and the free bikes were a bonus as it is a good 10-15 minute bike ride from the centre of Bruges. Bruges itself we absolutely fell... more

The castle itself is everything you'd want it to be--moat, gargoyles, ancient paintings and tapestries, stone steps--plus all the modern conveniences like free wi-fi, a whirlpool. The women who work here are great, really helpful and sweet. Breakfast was wonderful--especially the Speculoos spread. It is a bit far from Bruges if you don't have a car. But if you can... more

It was magnificent. the hotel was great and the environment was so beautiful. the free bikes and a nice host that you guide how to discover other nice villages around. we stayed there for 4 nights and we enjoyed all the four days where two days we rided to the shore of the north sea and also the village of... more

We stayed for two nights. The castle is delightful, as are the owners and accommodation. The rooms were sparkling clean and very comfortably furnished. This is rather more a guest house and very in-keeping with Bruges' grace and charm. The breakfasts were ample, fresh and tasty. The free use of well maintained bikes was an added advantage, especially for my... more

The castle offeres the perfect setting to spend the night in an 800+ year old castle. We stayed in the Barons Bedroom or Family Room 11, which offered an extra bed for our son. It was a dream come true for me to spend two nights in a castle. The furnishings and interior have been left fairly authentic, plus the... more

My husband and I stayed here for three nights in April 2009 as a part of our 20th wedding anniversary trip to Europe. We arrived at the train station and took a taxi to the castle. It is NOT walking distance with luggage. It was about 5 kilometers (3 miles) from the station. The taxi cost us about 18€ one... more

Booked this special place for our mothers 76th birthday with the family. Having not that good experience with some overprised hotels in the center of bruges, we did choose this one to make it a bit special. The location and the castle itself is superb. The complaints came in the problems we occured : no warm water on two occasions,... more

My husband and I were staying one night in Bruges on our way from Paris to Amsterdam. We found and booked this castle online. The pictures don’t do it justice. Like the other reviewers have said, it's breathtaking. We had a lovely room downstairs (I think Room 6). It was huge. The ceilings were almost two stories high. And the... more

The moment you drive up and cross the bridge across the moat, you know you're in for a fantastically memorable stay unlike any other. Our hosts were very accomodating and the facilities are kept clean and up-to-date. Modern bathrooms in a "King Arthur" setting add to the truly unique experience. Rooms are big and furnished with period pieces mixed with... more

I booked this as a last night treat for my husband and myself after a 2 week touring holiday of Europe. After 8 countries in 2 weeks I though we deserved some quality time and I was not disappointed. Once we found the Castle which is hidden from the main road quite well (look for a small sign next to... more
