We stayed at Camalou for 3 nights in June 2009. Camalou is in a lovely, quiet setting just outside of Ypres. We could look out our window and see cows grazing in the fields. Our room was nicely decorated and very clean. There is a fridge and tea/coffe making facilities for guests in the hallway outside of the rooms. There's... more

We have stayed at Camalou 6 or 7 times over the past 4 years. Christian and Annette, the owners, are so friendly, kind and efficient. The rooms are spacious, clean and well equipped, with really comfortable beds and with super en suite facilities. You can make a hot drink whenever you want to, and in the evening are usually presented... more

I stayed at Camelou with my two adult sons while visiting the graves of our forefathers from WW1 in the area. The help we received was phenomenal. Annette's knowledge is not just local. Her instructions on how to get to Waterloo were spot on. The rooms are well appointed & comfortable,.the breakfast served is more than adequate. There is also... more

We stayed 5 nights at Camalou & took a tour of the battlefields with Annette as our guide. The tour was quite expensive but I would highly recommend their tours to anyone interested in the WW1 battles as both Annette & Christian have extensive knowledge & interest of the battlefield areas. They tailor make the tour depending on which country... more

When we arrived we were told that due to some renovations we would be staying at another B&B. The other place was fine, and had a rather good breakfast but was perhaps not as historic/charming as I was expecting at Camalou. The main reason we stayed there though was for the tour, and Annette provided a fantastic tour, tailoring it... more

Annette and Christian were the perfect hosts and tour guides. They tailor-made the tour to our Aussie interests and their hospitality was second to none. The room was beautiful and comfortable. Breakfast was lovely (as were the chocolates and waffles where we stopped for lunch in town). We will definitely be back. more

For any fellow Australians wishing to tour the WW1 battle fields in Belgium and France we can thoroughly recommend Camalou. The service and accomodation are excellent and staying there was like staying with good friends. Annette and Christian have a great knowledge of the battle fields and it is obvious that they enjoy what they are doing. The tour numbers... more

Wonderful accomodation in the heart of Flanders with Annette and Christian. The Bedrooms are spotlessly clean and the breakfast was generous. If you add a wonderful Battlefield experience by two of the most experienced guides in the Ypres Salient you cannot go wrong. I'm sure I will be returning. My husband and I stayed at Camalou in June 2008. I wished to write and thank for the wonderful time we had at Camalou. Camalou is lovely and in a location easily accessible from central Ieper (Ypres), yet it was wonderful to awake to country sounds! We appreciate the packed breakfast. We were not expecting a feast so early in... more
