Our first impression of the hotel was positive - it's located very close to the main square and looked very old-world charming to us. Beautiful old wood doors with ancient keys, a spacious room with two large ruffled beds, antique furniture and a balcony. The beds were fine, which is about the only positive thing we could say ... When my boyfriend took a shower, we discovered there was no hot water - and no one at reception to complain to! He later told me he even pulled the "emergency" cord in the shower, without effect. After dark, we also noticed one of the lights in the bathroom was broken and the other one very dim. The next day, we entered the beautiful breakfast room and got the worst breakfast we ever had in Portugal. Two hard, old bread rolls, one package of processed cheese and jam per person, and a tiny pitcher of coffee. Good we didn't plan on staying another night as there was also a building site on the opposite side of the street.
